RAYS BASEBALL CLUB

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

TheRays Baseball Club (RBC) parent code of conduct is essential to the success of our player’s and to the success ofRBC’s future. We believe the highest ideals of athletic competition are achieved through parents/guardians agreeing that enjoying good play and supporting child development are far more important than winning and losing a game.

We believe that if our young men work hard and are committed to their endeavor, “success will take care of itself.” Keeping in mind that no person in life wins every game or gets every job in which they apply, RBC core philosophies are as follows:

  • Academics
  • Character
  • Effort
  • Fairness
  • Integrity
  • Knowledge of the rules
  • Respect
  • Sportsmanship

As the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of the member I therefore agree to the following:

  • I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am a sanctioned coach of RBC
  • I realize that children play the game to have fun and develop their skills, and that the game is for them, not for the adults
  • I will learn the rules of the game and the uphold the policies of RBC and USSSA baseball and All World Baseball
  • I will emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit my child more in life; over winning every time
  • I, and my guests, will be positive role models for my child, for all RBC players and the children of the other team; as well as encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy through demonstrating positive support for all players, managers, coaches, umpires and officials
  • I, and my guests, will not engage any unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, umpire, coach, player, or parent such as booing, taunting, intimidating, refusing to shake hands (managers/coaches/players), the use of profanity and inappropriate physical gestures
  • I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront managers or coaches at the game field, and I will take the time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place
  • I will insist my child treat other players, managers, coaches, officials, umpires and spectators with respect regardless of their race, creed, color, beliefs, sex or ability
  • I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and wellbeing of the athletes
  • I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition
  • I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time
