Growing a wise heart and keeping a clear head
Prov 19:8 (MSG) Grow a wise heart—you'll do yourself a favor; keep a clear head—you'll find a good life.
- I have the ability to grow a wise heart.
- I have the power to succeed.
- I have to want it and seek after it.
- I have to KEEP a clear head.
Who do I do these things?
Prov 10:22 (NKJV) The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
Knowledge: Gathering of facts or truth.
Understanding: Grasping and perceiving the facts and the truth.
Wisdom: When and how to apply the facts or truth.
Prov 2:6-8 (NKLV)For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.
Ecc 8:5 (AMP) Whoever observes the [king's] command will experience no harm, and a wise man's
mind will know both when and what to do.
- WHEN and WHAT… we need this in our everydays.
- To step into everything God has for you have to go after it and grow it in your life.
Wisdom: Knowing what God wants, when He wants it and how to get it done.
#1: Fear God.
Prov 9:10 (NKJV)The fear of the LORD is the beginningofwisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
- When I hate what God hates I’ve started growing a wise heart.
#2: Love to learn from instruction and from correction.
- Learn this stuff, renew my mind, God works in a whole different set of rules to this world.
- Get back in the WORD!
- Need to be HUNGRY for God’sWord…. part of instruction is correction!
Proverbs 19:8 (NKJV) He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good.
- A clear head is a head that understands. You get it and won’t forget it.
- A clear head is clutter free, not a ‘pile-er’ in your head.
- When you KEEP: you guard, protect, care for it… You PAY ATTENTION to it.
- I don’t have the privilege of being slothful and old nature stupid.
- I cannot have an undisciplined thought life.
#4: Stay cool in a crisis.
Prov 25:28(MSG) A person without self-control is like a house with its doors and windows knocked out.
Prov 25:28 (NKJV)Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls.
- To stay cool means you have self-control and take responsibility.
- Not fearful, not stressed, calm and cool in a crisis.
Mary’s testimony of keeping cool in the midst of crisis.
