*Students-please be sure that you have read/”loved up” your Reader’s Workshop books at least twice this week. *Parents- we strongly encourage you to read aloud to your child for at least 10 minutes a day. It is beneficial to follow up reading with a discussion that includes story sequence and/or predictions
1. *Letter Nn
*Please tear out the Nn page from your letter journal. Please be sure you are correctly holding a pencil and properly forming the letters (see homework folder.) ***It is very important that your child is starting at the top and not taking their pencil off until they are done.
*Sing Nyle Noodle’s Song (Tune: “Farmer in the Dell”)
Nyle Noodle’s Song
I see a noodle named Nyle.
He likes to nap for a while.
He wears a scarf around his neck.
He’s neat and right in style!
2. *Language Arts Workbook Pages 101-102
Social Science
3. *I am thankful for….
-Cut out the enclosed turkey or Pilgrim hat
-On the front side only, write or dictate to a family member about what you are thankful for. Parents: Please help your child to explore what they are truly thankful for. Many children have a tendency to respond that they are thankful for their toys. Please help them to think about important things in life. Are they thankful for their family? Are they thankful for where they live? What do they have that they could not live without? This is a great time to discuss how fortunate they are and how they could help less fortunate children.
-Return your turkey or Pilgrim hat with homework onThursdayto decorate our I Am Thankful bulletin board.

4. *Turkey feather
-You will find a feather in your homework folder. Decorate your feather. Use crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint, sequins, stickers… be creative. You may mount it on a piece of cardboard if necessary. Write your name on the back of the feather and return it with homework on Thursday. Your feather creation will be used to decorate our classroom turkey.
*Thanksgiving Play Poem or Song
-You will find your group’s poem or song in your homework folder. Please practice this poem or song at home. You will be performing it at your Thanksgiving Play.
*First Thanksgiving Play and Feast
-All family members are invited to come and find out what kindergarten has learned about the First Thanksgiving. We will perform a play and do a presentation of poems and/or songs, followed by a feast.
-Each child is requested to contribute “finger foods” to our feast. Please bring the food listed by your child’s November poem. Listed items are ideas. You can certainly be creative!
-In November: fruits, sliced, cut up and on a serving plate. (sliced apples, small bunches of grapes, skewered fruit kabobs.)
-Autumn Sounds: Veggies, sliced, cut up and on a platter. (celery sticks with dip, carrot sticks with dip, cut up peppers, veggie kabobs)
