Recruitment Coordinator

Network ESL

China

Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is Andrew Kurjata, and I am a Canadian citizen who has recently graduated from the Global TESOL College with a certificate in teaching TESOL. This training, along with practical teaching experience, makes me an excellent candidate for a position at your institute.

I am actively seeking to secure an EFL teaching position in China. I have studied Chinese culture and language at a university level and am now interested in having a first-hand experience in your fascinating country. Not only do what I want to learn more about life in China, but I would also like to master the Mandarin language by immersing myself in it.

I feel I easily meet the criteria needed to be a first-rate English teacher. In addition to my formal training in the TESOL program, I have practical experience working professionally as a university-level tutor. Here I have helped my peers perfect their English skills, and a vast amount of my work has been with foreign-exchange students who are learning English as a second language for the first time. Thus, I fully understand the challenges of perfecting a new language, and have proven myself capable of helping others achieve this goal. My academic achievements, which include a GPA of 4.12 and numerous scholastic awards, all reflect my English skills and strong sense of motivation. Beyond this, I am the editor-in-chief of Over the Edge (the official newspaper of the University of Northern British Columbia), a position that makes me responsible for organizing, managing, and teaching a staff of reporters and photographers on a daily basis. All of this displays my leadership skills and my broad interest in reading, writing, learning, and teaching.

Finally, I possess excellent people skills. This can be seen in my work experience as a sales representative for Vector Marketing Canada, a Marketing Assistant for the Innovation Resource Centre, a host at Boston Pizza restaurant, and a reporter for Over the Edge. To succeed in these positions it has been vital for me to have effective communication, education, and customer-relations skills, with the ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of people in a very short time. I have worked with people ranging from students to top-level businessmen, and have proven to be very adaptable to new situations.

I look forward to hearing from you and being able to demonstrate my ability and commitmentto providing first-rate training in the English language. I also have a friend (Shalina Edge) who is fully qualified and interested in teaching at your institute, and we would not mind sharing accommodations in order to save money. I have pasted our resumes and contact information below and attached photos. For any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at or by phone at (250) 562-5431.

Sincerely,

Andrew Kurjata

Cover letter for Shalina Edge

My name is Shalina Edge and I am a Canadian citizen currently seeking a job teaching English as a Second Language. I have recently graduated from Global TESOL College and believe that I would be an excellent addition to your institute.

I am actively searching for a teaching job in China and would like a job at your institute because it would allow me the opportunity to work with students, and help them learn English in a positive environment. I am an outgoing person, and will do my best to teach students so that they have a positive experience learning the English Language, and will both retain what they have learnt and recommend the institute to others. I also have an interest in learning different languages: I am fluent in English and French and have studied German, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin. It is my hope that an opportunity such as this to live and work in China would enable me to improve my Mandarin language skills. Furthermore, my experience learning a variety of foreign languages has allowed me to become familiar with a number of language teaching and learning techniques.

As you will see on the resume that I have enclosed, I am a very adaptable person who has worked with students of various ages in one-on-one and group environments. I have not only coached young children in T-Ball, but have also volunteered in kindergarten classes and helped children learn to read. I have also planned and organized events for children and adults alike. As such, I believe that I would be capable of planning a variety of learning activities for students in a classroom setting. I look forward to the opportunity to help enhance the educational experience of the students in your institute.

Should you have any further questions or wish to contact me, please e-mail me at , and I will reply to your e-mail as promptly as possible or telephone me at 962-7925.

Sincerely,

Shalina Edge
