ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary functions include assisting the Department Manager in carrying out the Economic Development Departments administrative activities by performing a variety of administrative functions and the ability to maintain and ensure professional decorum and responsiveness to the multiple levels of clientele the Economic Development Department serves.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess knowledge of county and municipal taxation policies, land use policies, local incentives, environmental and related permitting regulations. Must have knowledge of the theories and practices of various fields as they apply to urban/economic development, including economics, demographics, planning, finance, fund-raising, marketing, real estate, and grant administration. Must possessknowledge of banking practices and general loan and real estate terms. Must have knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, county ordinances, and county department policies and procedures. Must have knowledge of computer operating systems, Internet and World Wide Web protocols and practices. Must have knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Economic Development Department. Must have knowledge of functional interrelationships of the county and other governmental agencies. Must have skill in public and interpersonal relations, including developing and maintaining collaborative partner relationships. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including modern office technology. Must have skill in gathering and analyzing data. Must have good oral and written communication skills.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and three years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative experience including one year of administrative or office management experience; or completion of a four-year program in a college or university preferably with major emphasis on coursework in business administration, public administration or other related field and six months of administrative or office management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
