Swimming Pools

Swimming pools designed for adult use are prohibited on Norton Housing Authority property.

Swimming pools with filtration systems designed to remain in place for longer than one day are prohibited on Norton Housing Authority property.

Children’s wading pools, less than 5’ in diameter and less than 1’ deep are allowed under the following conditions:

1.Pools with any amount of water must be directly monitored at all times by an adult, no exceptions;

2.Pools must be emptied at days end or when no adult is present;

3.Pools must be secured and stored away at days end. They shall not be left in the yard area or be stored in any way that would allow water to be collected therein.

  1. Pools may only be filled in accordance with the Town of Norton’s Water Management Policy, including but not limited to restrictions on days outside water use is allowed and the methods under which outdoor water use is allowed.

Norton Housing Authority shall remove any pool,with 24 hour notice, not in compliance with the above stated conditions. In the event removal is necessary, Resident will be responsible for a removal and disposal fee. Any violation will result in immediate revocation of this privilege and may result in a summary process filed for eviction.

Grills

When in use, grills of any kind must be located at least ten feet from the back of the unit, securely stabilized on a flat surface. Grills must be operated and monitored by an adult at all times during use. They must be properly cleaned and maintained to ensure safe operation.

Storage of grills, once they have cooled, must be adjacent to the unit and out of the way of maintenance staff. Norton Housing Authority shall remove any grill,with 24 hour notice, not in compliance with the above-referenced policy. Costs for any damage caused by the grill, to the Norton Housing Authority property, will result in a charge to the resident. In the event removal is necessary, Resident will be responsible for a removal and disposal fee. Any violation will result in the revocation of this privilege and may result in a summary process filed for eviction.

Yard Furniture

Yard furniture must be kept to a minimum and placed only on the patio area in the back yard, in an effort not to clutter the yard area or obstruct entry and exit through the patio door.

The following conditions also apply:

1. Yard furniture must be designed for outdoor use and must be weather resistant;

  1. Yard furniture must be properly secured and stabilized;
  2. Tenant is responsible to maintain the furniture in a safe and sanitary condition;
  3. Yard furniture must be stored away at the end of the season.

Norton Housing Authority shall remove any yard furniture, with 24 hour notice, not in compliance with the above-referenced conditions. In the event removal is necessary, Resident will be responsible for a removal and disposal fee. Any violation may result in the revocation of this privilege and may result in a summary process filed for eviction.

Trampolines and Swing Sets

Trampolines or swing sets of any kind are not allowed on Norton Housing Authority property under any conditions whatsoever. Norton Housing Authority shall remove any trampolines or swing set equipment with 24 hour notice. In the event removal is necessary, Resident will be responsible for a removal and disposal fee. Any violation may result in a summary process filed for eviction.

Sheds

No sheds will be allowed to be erected at any NHA property effective October 1, 2012. If you have an existing shed prior to this date, you must request a waiver in writing to be allowed to keep the shed on the property. Allowed sheds must be in good and safe condition, which will be at Management’s sole discretion. Once an existing shed is taken down or removed, it cannot be replaced. Once a tenant having an approved shed vacates the unit, the shed shall not remain on the property.

The Recreational policy was approved by the Board of Commissioners for the Norton Housing Authority on June 19, 2012; the Shed Policy was approvedby the Board of Commissioners on November 20, 2012. Both policies now combined are re-approved on October 13, 2015.
