Summary CareRecords

Have you made your choice?

Summary Care Record (SCR) is an electronic record of important information about a patients health. It will initially have information about current medications, allergies and any bad reactions to medicines. Additional information may be added over time if a patient gives their consent.

Bottisham Medical Practice is planning to upload Summary Care Records from 21st September 2011.

For further information, please ask reception. You can also phone the Summary Care Record Information Line on 0300 123 3020 or visit the website at. Alternatively contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the PCT on 0800 279 2535.

New ClinicalComputer System

We are planning to upgrade our clinical software package to TPP SystemOne. This involves having a new appointment, dispensing and doctor consulting system. There is a 12 week training plan in place and we go live as of 20th January 2012. Other GP surgeries in Cambridgeshire are currently using the new system and we have had many favorable reports. Look out for further details in the surgery and on our website in the months to come.

Dispensary

Business as usual here at Bottisham Medical Practice

You may be aware that a pharmacy is planning to open in the village. Please could we re-assure you that we will continue to provide medication to all our dispensing patients. We endeavourer to provide a first class ‘one-stop’service to our patients and we receive much positive feedback from patients regarding our dispensary. However, if you feel there is any way that we could improve on the service we provide please do not hesitate to contact Amanda, Dawn or Maureen.

With two new members to their team and a new computer system, the dispensary team have looked at ways to improve the ways in which they work. You may notice in your prescription packs a letter to inform you about alignment of medication:-

  1. Please, ORDER ALL REGULAR MEDICATION TOGETHER, just once a month.
  2. For the first month you will notice that we have issued all your REGULAR MEDICATION together even if you haven’t quite run out of all of them.
  1. We realise that some medications come in quantities of more than 28 days. In this case please continue to order monthly with your other medication until such time as you have a full month in hand when you can just omit it from that month’s regular order.
  1. We are happy to receive any part opened packs for disposal
  1. Please advise us if you no longer require any particular item on your prescription

By introducing this new system we hope that this will help to:

  • Reduce the number of visits you need to make to the surgery
  • Allow us to maintain a prompt and efficient service
  • Help with the car parking situation

Thank you for your assistance in giving us 48 hours to prepare your prescriptions, this allows us to work efficiently through the long lists of repeats that come into our inbox every day.
