Receptionist/Administration Support Volunteer

About the opportunity

We are looking for friendly and committed volunteers at our Newark Centre to provide support in our busy office to sensitively handle calls and emails, greet visitors, and provide appropriate administrative support.

What does the role involve?

  • Providing a warm and welcoming environment for our children, families and other visitors to our Newark Centre.
  • Answering calls calmly, professionally and sensitively and transferring and/or taking messages when requiredfor 9 staff based at the Centre and in outreach venues throughout Nottinghamshire.
  • Replying to email enquiries or forwarding to the appropriate person.
  • Entering referral information onto our database and waiting list, whilst keeping clinical diaries online calendars up to date.
  • General administrative tasks including filing and photocopying.
  • Dealing with sensitive information and upholding confidentiality and sensitivity at all times.

We are here to provide 1:1 counselling and bereavement support, social activities, specialised workshops and training for professionals working with children. We are a team of 9 staff, who are mainly part-time with over 60 volunteers providing regular and adhoc time, skills and expertise.

-Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities

-Self-motivated with the ability to complete routine and non-routine tasks as needed

Service Support Coordinator Volunteer

About the opportunity

We are looking for friendly and committed volunteers at our Newark Centre to help organise and develop our social and therapeutic events for children and families who have been bereaved throughout the County. These include established annual events; Funday, Candlelight Service, Christmas Parties, Teenage Meal and 2-day residential bereavement camp and the development of new workshops and other activities under the supervision of the Clinical Team Lead.

What does the role involve?

  • Working with the Clinical Team Lead to produce an action plan for events to include timescales, responsibilities and budgets.
  • Booking venues, ordering resources and/or entertainment within budget
  • Negotiating best deals and obtain value of money
  • Assisting to develop a network of volunteers to support events and activities
  • Assisting with the promotion of events, as agreed and co-ordinating attendance of volunteers and/or clients.
  • Liaising with the Fundraising Co-ordinator with information to help ensure events are sponsored and/or gifts in kind sought where appropriate i.e. cakes, drinks, crafts and/or entertainment.

Volunteer Fundraising Assistant

About the opportunity

We are looking for friendly and committed volunteers at our Newark Centre to help organise and develop

our range of fundraising activities and events throughout Nottinghamshire and ensure all donors are thanked, through effective administration.

What does the role involve?

  • Working with the Fundraising Coordinator to organise and support a programme of key activities and events to raise income and awareness for the Charity, in line with the fundraising strategy.
  • Assist with key areas of administration as required including data entry, record keeping and letter writing as well as to collate and send materials upon request.
  • Co-ordinating a network of volunteers to assist with fundraising and awareness raising.
  • Assist with the support of fundraisers and event participants, and be the first point for fundraising enquiries as required.
  • Research and identify new contacts and assist with their development and stewardship.
  • Help to achieve income and expenditure targets and maximise potential on all activities.

Social Media Coordinator Volunteer

About the opportunity

Are you a whiz at social media? Do you have a way of encouraging people to read what you write and share with their networks? If so, we are looking for volunteers to help keep our Facebook and Twitter interesting and engaging, highlight promotions and campaigns and relay updates about our services. We also produce a monthly e-newsletter so would be looking for support with this as well, if possible.

We will give guidance on this, but the ability to work on your own initiative is essential. The role would be ideal for anyone looking to work in social media in the future or already has experience and has some time to spare.The role can be undertaken from our Newark Centre or even from your own home if you prefer flexibly to suit other commitments you may have. You will be required to attend induction and meeting with staff to learn all about what we can do to support children and families, and the difference we make.
What does the role involve?

  • Create interesting and relevant content to increase followers, awareness and income from social media.
  • Encourage involvement of supporters in events, campaigns and volunteering, and promote services.
  • Publicise events and activities via a monthly e-shot.
  • Work with the Fundraising Coordinator and Clinical Team Lead to ensure everything is accurate and sensitive to those who have been bereaved.

We are looking for a volunteer to undertake a variety of practical roles to help ensure that our Newark Centre is welcoming for children and families and is a safe environment for all. Our Centre has a homely feel on two floors with a small, but perfectly formed garden to the rear.

The opportunity involves a few hours each month (or whatever you can spare). It is a flexible role so can fit around your free time and personal commitments.

What does the role involve?

  • Ensuring the Centre is warm, welcoming and safe through many different DIY projects from changing light bulbs, putting up shelves/pictures to painting rooms.
  • Keeping the garden tidy (which consists of 5 planted boxes) and fake grass to create a pleasant environment for families and children to play in.

About the opportunity

We are looking for friendly and passionate volunteers in your local community to help us raise vital funds to help make a difference for local children who have been bereaved.

The opportunity involves a few hours each month (or whatever you can spare). It is a flexible role so can fit around your free time and personal commitments.

What does the role involve?

  • Liaising with our Fundraising Coordinator.
  • Identifying and placing collection boxes in suitable locations – we can provide advice on the best locations.
  • Collecting funds on behalf of the charity every 3-6 months (as they get full).
  • Emptying and replacing tins, giving a receipt and a letter of thanks or certificate to the hosts.
  • Paying in funds or delivering cash to the Centre.
  • Keeping a written record of funds collected, locations and contacts and reporting any stolen boxes.
  • Being our local eyes and ears for potential further fundraising in your local community

The role involves representing us at a broad range of community events, as well as speaking on our behalf.The opportunity can involve anything from a few hours each month (or whatever you can spare). What does the role involve?

  • Children’s grief is not widely known or understood – you could be a voice for children who have been bereaved to increase understanding and awareness within schools and community groups, as well as talking about the difference our charity makes and why it is so important.
  • Willingness to represent the charity at a variety of events including fundraising events, cheque presentations etc.
  • Enjoyment of public speaking and willingness to learn about the charity.
  • Proactive approach to source potential speaking opportunities.
  • Liaising with our Fundraising Coordinator to co-ordinate actives and obtain updates on service delivery.
  • Keeping a written logof talks delivered and events attended to ensure all hosts are thanked appropriately.
