Rec. Games – Study Guide

Rules of Wallball

Objective:To be the last person on the court by hitting the ball so that the opponent cannot return the ball or get out.

Rules: Start the game with a serve. Serve is done by the second person in line who throws the ball to the wall for the first person to play the shot. Then the server hits the ball to continue the game. The ball must hit the wall in bounds, however there are no floor boundaries. The ball cannot be hit directly to wall, it must hit the floor first on the return. Only one bounce is allowed before and after the hit the wall and the ball must stay in bounds when hitting the wall. Any person interfering with the receiver is out. If you get hit by the ball you are out. After ball is hit move directly to back of line. If the ball strikes a hinge, replay the point. If the ball goes into the bleachers, replay the point. If you miss your turn or go out of turn, you are out.

Rules of Baggo

Objective:To be the first team to score 21 points.

Rules:Rules are similar to the game of Horseshoes Each person team gets 4 bean bags. Team members are on opposite sides from their partners. All bean bags start out on one side. One person will throw their bag then their opponent throws their bag and so. When throwing your foot can not cross the foot fault line or the throw is disqualified.

Scoring: Bags that land on the board are worth 1 point each. Bags that land in the hole are worth 2 points each. If one team throws a bag and it lands on the board and the opponent throws a bag which also lands on the board, these point cancel each other out – no score. Another example would be if a blue bag goes in the hole and a red bag lands on the board then the blue team get 1 point and the Red get 0 points. The score is cumulative and game goes to 21.

Rules of Scooter Ball

Objective: One team to get the most goals.

Rules: Team members cannot leave their scooters. If a player falls off their scooter by accident they have 2 seconds to get back on the scooter. If another player from the opposing team pushes or pulls you off the scooter you get a free shot on goal. The ball can be thrown or blocked. A team must pass the ball through 4 different members of their team before a shot can be taken on goal. If in the process the ball is blocked by the opposing team the count starts over. If the Goalie blocks the ball the count starts over. Only the goalie is allowed in the goal box. Goalies can leave their box in order to play. Players from either team cannot be in the key for more than 4 seconds. No player can have the ball for more than 10 seconds. Scoring: Each goal is worth 1 point.

Rules of Knockout Basketball

Objective: Be the last player on the court.

Rules: Knockout is played by 2 or more players and requires 2 basketballs. All players line up behind the selected shooting point, typically the center of the free throw line or the top of the key. The first player in line shoots. If he misses, he rebounds the ball and continues shooting until he makes a goal. Once the first player throws the ball for his first attempt, the second player may make his first attempt from the foul line. The goal of the first player is to make a basket before the second player does. If so, the first player recovers the ball and passes it to the next player in line. The goal of the second player is to make a basket before the first player does. If so, the first player is out and that ball is passed to thenext player in line. This pattern follows until all players have been eliminated except one, who is declared the winner. Typically a new game then starts with everyone lining up at the same shooting point according to the order they were eliminated, with the winner in the front of the line and the first person eliminated in the back of the line.

Spikeball Rules

Game Play

A. Teams

Two teams of Two (four total). Each team starts on opposite sides of the net.

B. Serving

1. Team ‘A’ serves by hitting the ball off the net towards Team ‘B’.

2. Teams must use the “GET IT IN PLAY” serve. This means the serve should be easy enough that the

opposing team can return it with little effort.

3. Team ‘B’ has up to three hits between them before returning the ball to the net.

4. It is NOT required that you use all three of your hits.

5. To determine who serves first, the teams should volley.

6. Once the game has begun, each team alternates serves between players.

7. Once the ball is in play there are no longer “sides”. Each team member can run anywhere at any time.

C. Scoring

1. First team to 21 wins (must win by two).

2. Side out scoring only, i.e., a team can only score when the serve belongs to that team.

3. The opposing team must always put forth an honest effort to get out of the way of the “hitting” team.

If a solution is unclear, the point becomes a do-over.

4. If a shot hits the rim it is known as a “Rimmer” and is side-out.

5. If a shot hits a “pocket” (kind of on the net and kind of on the rim) then the point is replayed.

6. If the ball does not bounce off the net, the point is side-out.

7. In order for the ball to be in play, after hitting the net, it must clear the rim.
