Dear Parent

Re: Clubs for Spring 1 2017

Following the great success of our after school clubs so far this year, we are looking forward to offering more clubs for the childrenfor next half term.

The clubs on offer for Spring 1:

-Yoga

-Choir

-Football

-Technology

-Drama

There is more information about these clubs overleaf.

Due to the growing interest in our after school clubs, we will now be limiting the number of spaces and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Payment Details

Each club costs £25.00 for the entire course (this covers costs for: staffing, room hire and purchasing resources). Children who are already booked into Evening Owls may attend a club on that day at a 50% reduction. All payments to be made via Parent pay. Please note that clubs are a 5 week course only – not the full half term. If you require childcare outside of this 6 week period please book into evening owls for those dates. Evening Owls and breakfast club operate for the full half term.

Please note for pupils that the school receives the pupil premium grant, one club is available free of charge and any additional wraparound care or clubs are available to book at a 50% discount.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like any further information.

Kind regards,

Barry Macwilliam

After School Clubs Spring 1

Monday- Yoga- Sarah Tucker (Maximum of 20 children)

Join qualified yoga instructor and novelist Sarah Tucker, who will be teaching yoga and meditation at Deer Park School on Monday after school.Yoga has been scientifically proven to help children with their concentration and focus, as well as to be calm and support them through worries and frustrations. Lots of storytelling and learning the language of Sanskrit, the language of yoga, which thechildrenlove (and pick up much quicker than the adults). It will also be so much fun!

Tuesday-Choir – Mrs Colenso(Maximum of 20 children)

A chance to learn some new pieces and enjoy using our voices together. Singing encourages expression through emotion and sharpens the ability to communicate while exercising lip and tongue movement. One of the biggest benefits of singing is the repeated use of the ‘memory muscle’ which in turn helps in all aspects of learning and development

Wednesday-Football Club- Ben Morris (Watford FC)(Maximum of 20 children)

These sessions will incorporate all the key skills required to develop their learning not only on the pitch but also the ability to work in a team environment! Football club will take place at Old Deer Park so please ensure your child has appropriate football kit to take part.

Thursday-Technology Club- Miss Ballantine (Maximum of 10 children)

Technology club will be fun and techy! We will be exploring a range of innovative apps on the ipads and will learn how to code. We will also be building on the computing curriculum.

Friday-Drama club- Mrs Korkmazgil (Maximum of 15children)

Drama club will be fun packed with lots of different role plays and scenarios. The children will be given the chance to really get creative and take on different settings and roles through drama.
