Task specification
Please give a short description of the task you would like the students to carry out for the competition.
What would you like the student/s to do? Please keep in mind that they should be able to complete the task in 3 days.
Create a volunteering marketing campaign to attract volunteers across all ages and that will contribute to a new volunteering strategy. This can be a press release / report on the benefits or impact volunteering has on people’s lives. The campaign will aim to attract young people/ students and also incorporate people of working age and retirement.
Person/ team specification
Knowledge :
Do the students need any subject specific knowledge or specific technical skills to undertake the task e.g. knowledge of web design, accounting, financial services, risk management, film/ video production, knowledge of a particular industry?
Knowledge of business management, marketing and PR would be advantageous.
Generic skills:
What transferable skills do the students need to bring to the taske.g. communication skills, interpersonal skills, research skills, data analysis skills?
Depending on the format of the campaign for example if it is a press release or research we will need people who have good communication skills both written and verbal. Creative skills are also welcomed.
Qualities:
What qualities are required to complete the task successfully?
e.g. reliability, enthusiasm, ability to think critically , attention to detail
Enthusiasm and the ability to be creative and think outside the box. To create a campaign that would excite people and make them want to volunteer for RNIB Scotland.
Project outputs
Please specify what the student/s should deliver; e.g. a written report, an oral presentation, an information sheet, a business plan or strategy, a video/ podcast’ a list of recommendations etc.
Open to creative options as to how to deliver this recruitment campaign. A written report would be advantageous to support the various ideas and possible methods.
This should be done with thought to costing and practical implications. If this campaign was to go Scotland wide.
