Barack Hussein Obama II made history on January 10, 2009 when he became the first African-American president of the United States.
Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu , Hawaii. Obama's mother , Ann Dunham, was born in Kansas, U.S.A. His father, also named Barack Obama , was born in Kenya , Africa. Obama grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia. When he lived in Indonesia, he had a pet monkey named Tata.
When Obama was a teenager , he worked in an ice cream shop. While he was working there , he ate so much ice cream that he now hates it! Obama has had an interesting career. He has worked as lawyer, a law professor and a senator. He is also an author and has written several books.
