Read to the Top with Rahm Emanuel and Melody Barnes

Good morning guys, how are you doing? Are you ready for some stories?

We have two guests—can we give them a warm round of applause? Rahm Manuel and Melody Barnes—two of the president’s best helpers. I think Melody is going to read first and then Rahm.

The name of this book is Ten Things I Can Do to Help My World.

I remember to turn off the light when I leave the room. I remind my parents to unplug the TV when we’re not watching it. I like to walk to school. Avoiding car trips saves gas and cuts down on air pollution. And do you know why—this is the big finale—why do you do all these things? Are you ready? I love my world.

So thank you very much and thank you for helping me read that book.

Duck. Duck for president. This is a funny one isn’t it. Do you like it? I like this book. Have you seen the other one? Duck runs for congress? It’s a really good book. Really good.

Duck did not like to do chores. “Why is farmer Brown in charge anyway?” thought duck. “What we need is an election.” That night duck and his staff started working on posters for the presidential election. Farmer Brown was furious. He ran to the barn and found the animals registering to vote. It’s obviously not in Chicago.

On election day each of the animals filled out a ballot and placed it in the box. The vote was counted. And the results were posted. Farmer Brown. What’s that say? Duck.

Who wins? Duck. Yes. Big comeback for the challenger. Big comeback.

The voters had spoken. Duck was officially in charge. Biggest decision? What do you think he has to make? Picking that Chief of Staff is tough, man. That is a touch decision. Lots of choices. You could go real wrong. And then it’s just uphill after that.

Running a country is no fun at all thought duck. Do you think that’s true? Do you think that is? No. Duck left the Vice President in charge and headed back to the farm. And duck is working on his autobiography.

Do you think he got an advance for that? Alrighty. Thank you guys. Thanks for listening. All yours Arne. Beat that.

Um, do you actually get to see the president?

I actually do. His office is down the hall from ours. Sometimes he thinks we see him too much. And he’s a very nice person.

Thanks guys. Can we get a big round of applause? They’re both very, very busy, so it’s really, really nice of them to come over.
