London´s attractions

If you visit London you can admire thousands of years of royal history at historical attractions. One of them is Tower of London, the former home of King Henry VII. It is one of London's most recognisable historic landmark.

Big Ben was built by the architect Sir Charles Barry in the reconstruction of the original Westminster Palace, which was destroyed by a large fire in 1834. It is 93 m high clock tower that rises to the north-eastern end of Westminster Palace, or the main bell (Big Ben), has become one of the typical symbols of London.

Tower Bridge is the most famous lifting bridge over the River Thames stands next to the Tower of London . It is 65-meter building in the Gothic style. The bridge is the last bridge before the mouth of the River Thames to the sea. If you decide to visit the bridge, you can admire the view to the whole of London. In the two towers you can see period photographs, handwritten documents and a film about the construction of the bridge. You can also see engines that can lift the bridge for 90 seconds to allow ships to sail under it. Bridge frames are raised about five hundred times a year.

It is historical monument in the middle of Lodon. It was built by William the Conqueror in 1066 to 1087 of white marble White Tower , which is at the heart of historic buildings. In the 12th century water jump was built around the fort.

Original name of Westminster Abbey, officially also a collegiate church of St. Petra is located near the Palace of Westminster, seat of the British Parliament. It is also near Big Ben. Abbey is the traditional place of coronation and last resting place of British monarchs.

St. Paul`s Cathedral is located on Ludgate Hill in Lodnon. Inside the cathedral there are plaques, statues and monuments dedicated to a wide range of personalities. The last major ceremony here that the British royal family organized the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer.

Trafalgar Square is located in central London and is named after the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Originally used the square as the royal stables, until around 1845, received its current appearance. Dominates the square is Nelson's Column surrounded by fountains and four bronze statues of lions. Trafalgar Square is a major tourist attraction and partly contributed to the local pigeons. A favorite activity of tourists and Londoners were feeding them.

The London Eye is a giant 135-metre tall Ferris wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames in the British capital. It is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe, and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom which visits by over 3.5 million people every year. When was built in 1999, it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world.
