JOB DESCRIPTION

SOMETHING ABOUT ME

I am a man in my 20’s living in Penarth. I have Osteoporosis and Avascular Necrosis which affect my mobility. I can walk short distances, but can become unsteady so need support from someone to do so. If I’m out for a longer period of time, I use a wheelchair to get around, which needs to be pushed by someone. As a result of my disabilities I have been limited in things I can do, and would like to try new things. I’d like to go to the pub, and try clubbing at some point too or maybe a small gig with live music. I enjoy listening to rock music, watching action/adventure films and gaming. I also like comic books and enjoy films like Batman.

I am very outgoing, with a wacky sense of humour. I have just started uni in Cardiff Met.in September where I’m studying a business degree. I attend my local Church on Sunday mornings, and enjoy the social aspect of it as well as the singing and dancing there.

I go to the gym in Cogan Leisure Centre once a week, I’d like to increase this once I have a PA. I need a little help to set up the weights but then I’m able to exercise without support.

I’d like to go swimming in Cogan also.

PLACE OF WORK

Going out and about socially in my local area and occasionally further afield.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to enable me to try new things, assist me in going out and about socially and to help me find new activities I will enjoy. By having a PA I will be able to try new things while feeling confident my PA will guide me and enable me to be safe.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 10 hours per week. These will usually be used outside of university hours and on weekends. I am off uni on Wednesday and Thursday so I’d like to spend 4 hours on either of these days and 6 hours on a Saturday. The hours must be flexible by mutual agreement in advance as there will be times I require support on different day, especially during exam times.
