REGISTRATION:Men’s Epee:Report by 11.00am on Friday 4 December

Women’s Sabre:Report by 12.15pm on Friday 4 December

Men’s Foil:Report by 9.00am on Saturday 5 December

Women’s Epee:Report by 9.45am on Saturday 5 December

Women’s Foil:Report by 9.00am on Sunday 6 December

Men’s Sabre:Report by 9.45am on Sunday 6 December

Fencers failing to register by the reporting times indicated above will be scratched
START TIMES: Fencing will begin shortly after the stated report times. It is therefore essential that competitors report to the official in charge by the stated times.
FORMAT:The number of rounds will be dictated by the number of fencers registering for competition each day.It is intended that each competition will be based on one round of pools with non eliminated, and from which all competitors will be promoted into Direct Elimination without repecharge, leading to a final of four. Depending on numbers a preliminary round may be included. The Directoire Technique reserves the right to eliminate fencers after the first round if the tournament is running to capacity.
ENTRIES:Within this mailing there is a list of confirmed entries into the Championships. Please check this document and contact me in the BUCS Office if you have any queries. Institutions may use fencers already featured in the programme to replace any late withdrawals. NO NEW ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY.

COMPETITION

REGULATIONS:The BUCS Championships will be conducted in accordance with the B.F.A. ‘’Rules for Competition’’. However, it may be necessary to make the usual exceptions and restrictions regarding pistes, number of hits, time limit etc. No rest periods can be guaranteed.

Any Jury D’Appel will be chaired by a member of the Directoire Technique, who reserves the right to determine any points which arise regarding the interpretation of the rules, and to co-opt any assistance required

FENCING LICENCES:Fencers may only compete in the BUCS Championships if they are in possession of a current B.F.A, S.A.F.U., W.A.F.U., N.I.A.F.U licence. FIE Licences will not be accepted. You must produce your licence (Full licence) when reporting for the championships. B.F.A. licences can be obtained from B.F.A Headquarters; 2 weeks should be allowed for the return of the card. If your card has not arrived by the date of competition – please ensure you have proof of purchase in the form of a receipt.

Fencers may be able to obtain a B.F.A licence on the day of the event but this may be limited by time restrictions and an additional administration fee of £5.00 will be charged. The organisers however reserve the right to not issue a licence if time prohibits this. You are therefore advised to obtain a licence in advance of the competition.

EQUIPMENT:Competitors must be properly equipped for their events and competitors clothing MUST conform to B.F.A rules and ‘’Guidelines on Safety in Fencing’’ sent to all B.F.A members. BUCS cannot be held responsible for accident, loss or damage to persons or property, however caused.

SOUVENIR HOODY:Limited edition BUCS Fencing hoodies will be available to purchase for £20.Make sure you don’t miss out by pre ordering online at you can either choose to have it ready and waiting to be picked up at the event or shipped direct to your door. A limited amount will also be available to purchase at the event. Check out the BUCS online shop or posters at the event for more details.

STUDENT

ASSISTANCE: Any offers to assist with refereeing would be greatly appreciated, please notify John Crouch at the start of the day. Volunteers to assist with piste assembling on Thursday and dismantling on Sunday would also be greatly appreciated.

CATERING:Please note that food will be available available on site during the tournament which can be purchased from the campus café.
