The HR role, as effective business partners to territorial, operational, and income generation teams is critical to achieving this, by helping them meet their objectives through people, as well as driving corporate HR strategy and initiatives.
Scope
This is a national Human Resources Adviser post. It is an operational role, providing advice to managers on a variety of HR issues, including change management, employee relations, recruitment & selection and compensation & benefits.
Contacts include Operational directors, managers and staff, other HR teams, employment agencies, advertising agency, occupational health and other medical practitioners, solicitors, ACAS, and external training providers.
Overall Purpose of the post
As a member of the HR team, to provide an effective business partnership to managers within designated business functions and so help them meet their operational objectives.
To be responsible for providing a professional, cost effective and customer-focussed HR service as well as promoting the work of the HR team in a positive manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Develop an effective business partnership with key clients and provide an effective and efficient HR consultancy service.
Inform and advise managers and staff in line with the organisation’s policies & procedures and current employment legislation.
Supporting managers in achieving high staff performance in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures, including advising on managing capability, sickness absence and handling disciplinary and grievance issues. This will include advising managers at formal hearings and appeal hearings.
Co-ordinate and ensure documentation including contracts, variations to contract, and appropriate status (e.g. permanent, casual, fixed-term) is implemented efficiently.
Contribute to the preparation of the operating plan and budget, and ensure timely reporting and submission of relevant management information.
Guide managers on managing change and organisational development.
Liaise with Managers and supporting managers on identified people management training needs.
Deliver HR-related training programmes, e.g. recruitment and selection, to ensure best practice is implemented.
Advise managers on job design and job evaluation within the corporate framework.
Liaise with data processing and payroll staff and ensuring the integrity/accuracy of staff data.
Monitor and audit key HR activities such as diversity, salary benchmarking etc, and recommending changes in practice.
Utilise management information to support managers driving change.
Ensure appropriate liaison with staff representatives.
Involvement in HR project work
Undertake other related duties and projects that may from time to time be assigned by the line manager.
