2. Introduction

BP is currently offering for sale a used Rolls Royce type RB211 type 24C Industrial Gas Engine. The engine was used until June 2007 on BP’s Miller platform in the North Sea for electrical power generation. The engine was removed for inspection following suspected Starter Crash re-engagement. A Bulk Strip Report prepared in Aberdeen details a Recommended Workscope.

With the Miller Platform entering a decommissioning phase it was not considered necessary to proceed with engine Overhaul & Repair. A number of Parts have been removed from the Engine and are not included.

This document outlines the history of the engine, its current condition and the proposed timetable for this sale.

3.  The Engine

3.1  General: The engine is an RB211 type 24C Industrial Dual Fuel Gas Generator serial number 1750B-204. The engine has run 85,219 hours total with 2054 starts total; and 31,728 hours with 373 starts since last overhaul in September 2005. The engine has been run on natural gas approximately 95% of the time, the remainder on diesel.

A Production Equipment Test Schedule indicating Specific Fuel Consumption and Exhaust Gas Horse Power is included under Appendix II.

3.2  History: The engine was fitted new into BP’s Miller platform in the North Sea in July 1991. It was maintained offshore by a Core Crew including Rolls Royce Field Engineers; overhauls of the engine were carried out onshore by Rolls Wood Group. It is a standard industrial engine that has been used to drive an RT56 Power Turbine and alternator delivering typically 6-12MW. The most recent overhaul was in September 2005 where in addition to overhaul the following Modifications and Technical Instructions were carried out –

3.3  Current condition: The engine was used until April 2007 when it was removed from service with suspected Starter Crash Re-engagement. There is also evidence of 3Dimensional rub on the IP Turbine. The Engine was fully inspected in July 2007 by Rolls Wood Group (Repair & Overhauls) and the Bulk Strip Report details a Recommended Workscope, and that document is available upon request. The engine requires overhaul and repair and is incomplete. See Section 3.4.

3.4  Exclusions: The Engine is incomplete as a number of components have been removed and are no longer available. These include:-

Phase 2 Combustor

Hydraulic Starter and Gearbox

Borescope Plug J1

Liquid Fuel Manifolds and Filter Assembly

Gas Manifold Transit Brackets and Supports (quantity 3)

Current Storage Bag and Transit Cradle

In addition the Power Turbine RT56 is still located on the Miller Platform and is NOT included in the sale.

4  Conditions of Sale

4.1  The sale of the engine will be by online Auction via the BP Ariba eSourcing Platform.

4.2  Bids for the engine will only be accepted via the online Auction from Bidders who are Registered on the Ariba eSourcing Platform.

4.3  Interested Parties intending to Bid should contact the undersigned in order to ensure Registration.

4.4  All bids must be in GB Pounds Sterling; bids should be valid for 30 days.

4.5  The Customs Status of the engine is Free Circulation FCG.

4.6  The sale of goods will be governed by BP Contract of Sale, copy on request.

4.7  BP will invoice the buyer and the engine will be released when cleared payment is received in full from the buyer.

4.8  VAT (15%) Value Added Tax will apply as appropriate.

4.9  The engine will be DELIVERED to the buyer under Incoterms 2000 FCA, Free Carrier - Unit G35, Wellheads Industrial Centre, Dyce. The buyer will need to make their own arrangements for supporting & transporting the engine as the Transit Cradle and Bag are NOT included in the sale.

4.10  All inspection, collection & transportation costs will be for the account of the buyer. The engine will be loaded onto the buyer’s transport as per 4.9 above.

4.11  Whilst the information we have provided is to the best of our knowledge complete and accurate, the engine package is being sold as seen, and without warranty or guarantee. [Caveat Emptor].

5  Timetable for Sale

5.1  The engine and spare parts may be viewed from 25th May 2009.

5.2  Interested Parties intending to Bid should Register from week commencing 15th June 2009 as per Conditions of Sale 4.3.

5.3  The closing time for expressing an interest in buying the engine will be 19th June 2009.

5.4  The online auction will take place on Thursday 25th June 2009 at 3pm United Kingdom Time.
