Dear Speech and Debate Coach:

The Randolph High School Forensics Team is pleased to invite you to the 24th Annual Randolph Fall Classic Forensic Tournament to be held on Saturday, November 17th, 2012. We will be offering competition in varsity, junior varsityand novice Lincoln-Douglas (LD) and Public Forum debate. There will be eleven individual event (IE) categories including dramatic interpretation, duo interpretation, humorous interpretation, prose, poetry, original oratory, extemporaneous speaking, impromptu speaking, improvisational acting, declamation,and congress.

All congressional bills must be emailed to Ben Horwitz y Monday, November 14.

Note that we are using the November PF topic and the November/December LD topic.

There will be four preliminary rounds in Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum debate with breaks to finals (or semi-finals) time permitting. LD & PF will have three divisions, novice, JV, and varsity. Please register your students for the appropriate division based on the NJFL rules.

There will be three preliminary rounds in all individual event categories with breaks to finals, time permitting. Note: Please designate Speech novices, as we will award the top non-breaking novice in each Speech event. The usual complement of awards will be given to the top 6 competitors in all categories. Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams competing.

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and first round will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. A complete tournament schedule will be forthcoming to the schools that register or upon request. Please refer to the following sheets for administrative details.

All registration must be completed via Tabroom.com. If you have never used this site before or would like assistance in the registration process, please contact our team email () [subject heading: “RHS Tournament Registration (2012)”]. Your Tabroom-registration needs to be completed by 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 14th.

Please Note: We will automatically accept a total of six (6) entrants from each school per IE category; we reserve the right to place any further entrants (in each category) on a “wait-list”, subject to room and judge availability. Notification of movement from “wait-list” to official entrant will be sent as soon as any change occurs.

School registration fee / NJFL Scholarship contribution / $10.00
Lincoln-Douglas Debate / $15.00 per entry
All I.E. categories (including Public Forum) / $10.00 per entry
  • Double Entry Issues

IE Triple Entries / Not allowed.
IE Double-Entries / Allowed. Please identify all double-entrants.
Public Forum / Not allowed.
LD & Extemporaneous Speaking / Not allowed.
LD and other Speech events / Not allowed.
  • Administrative Fees

Late entry fee / $15.00.
Drop fee / $15.00 per net dropped student.
  • Judging requirements

Debate / Teams must provide one (1) judge for every three (3) debate entries or fraction thereof.*
Public Forum / Teams must provide one (1) judge for every three (3) Public Forum debate entries or fraction thereof.
All other Speech / Teams must provide one (1) judge for every five (5) I.E. entries or fraction thereof.

Varsity debaters with at least two full years of experience may be used as judges for Novice LD or Novice PF. Please mark these judges accordingly in your notes.

For each judge you are unable to provide, you must pay a replacement fee of $85.00. Please contact Ben Horwitz regarding any and all judging questions.

Please inform your judges of the following possibilities: Given the cross-over characteristics of the PF event: (a) any speech judge may be assigned to a PF round; (b) LD judges might be assigned to a PF round.
