Vatavyadhi is mentioned as Ashtamahagada by our Acharyas. As it is mahagada and vata is the pradhana dosha involved in the samprapti of vatavyadhi, most potent formulations are said in treatment of it. Sameera Pannaga rasa is one among such formulation said in the classics of Rasashastra.
.
There are three different references available in the Rasavangmaya with difference in ingredients and method of preparation. Sameera pannaga rasa is prepared using kupipakavidhi, putapakavidhi and as khalvarasayana vidhi.
The ingredients of the preparation are Parada, Gandhaka, Haratala, Gouripashana with and without manashila; and Abhraka bhasma, Parada, Gandhaka, Trikatu, Vatsanabha and Tankana. The bhavana dravyas are also different in these methods.
As the Ingredients, Methodology and Bhavana dravyas are different according to different references, the need has been felt to take up Sameera Pannaga Rasa for the study.
