RAINBOW PLACE PRESCHOOL

2018-2019

HOW DO CHILDREN LEARN MOST EFFECTIVELY?

We used to think children learned best when they:

- Watched and listened to adults

- Memorized facts

- Followed our directions

- Had mistakes corrected

- Practiced tasks selected by others

- Sat quietly at desks

Now we know young children learn best when they:

- Participate actively

- Work at their own pace and in their own style

- Talk (communicate) with each other

- Use real objects

- Build on their experiences

- Follow their natural curiosity

- Experiment to find solutions

- Have the opportunity to choose activities

- Learn through educational play

*Our program utilizes a Creative Curriculum that aims to exceed standards set by the Michigan Department of Education. Our class size ratio is 1:8 (1 adult per 8 students) with no more than 24 children/class session.
