Raider Review – October 3, 2014

  • Remember to update your Raider wardrobe at the Raider Trader! Items will available for purchase every Wednesday from 12:00-2:00pm during lunch periods. You can also purchase merchandise during home games.
  • All information for Drivers Education is available through the NC Driving School. The contact information is by phone at (252) 321-6700.
  • Reagan High School will begin a new tradition of honoring previous students, staff, and community members. It will be called the “Reagan Hall of Fame”. The by-laws and nomination forms are posted on the Reagan website. Nomination forms for the first Hall of Fame class are due by April 1st 2015. The first induction will take place the fall of 2015. The Hall of Fame Wall is located outside of our guidance department. The work was designed and recently installed by Apple Rock Advertising. Stop by and check it out.
  • The American Legion holds an annual oratorical contest. We are looking for students (grades 9-12) who wish to enter this speech competition (which could yield significant award money!). Details/guidelines can be found at Interested students should notify Ms. Norris in guidance by late November.
  • Latino Achievers will meet Thursday, October 9 in the Media Center from 2:40-3:40.
  • The Reagan Readers Book Club will have a meeting on October 9th from 3:45-4:30 PM in the media center. We will vote for November’s selection and discuss t-shirt designs. Bring snacks to share! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Fossa in the media center.
  • Walk to spread bullying awareness, Saturday, October 11th at 8am. Friends and family are welcome to walk around the Dash stadium and then participate in a Leadership training session to become a school leader. Stop by Student Services if you are interested.
  • Guitar Fun - Friday at 3:45pm in Mr. Norwood's room #404. Play, practice, learn.

  • The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) is starting up this year at Reagan! Anyone and Everyone are welcome to join! Listen to announcements for meeting dates/times or see Mrs. Lewis in Student Services for more information.

  • Want to find out about admissions to 100+ colleges and universities in the area? Attend the College Fair on Monday, October 6th from 5-8pm at the Benton Convention Center and speak to admission reps. Crosby Scholars need to attend one College Fair between 10th and 12th grade.
  • Interested in a nursingcareer? Forsyth Tech and WSSU have a partnership program to earn a 4 year degree by attending both schools. Attend an information session on Sept. 23, Oct. 22, or Nov. 20 at Forsyth Tech from 5:30-6:30. For more information visit:
  • Interested in majoring in Sports Medicine? Attend Catawba College’s Athletic Training Day Saturday, October 4th or November 8th. This is a fun and relaxed way to find out more information about the field of Sports Medicine (Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, etc.).This hands-on experience is from 8:30-1:30 and you can register for the event here:

  • The Governor's School of North Carolina is a six-week summer residential program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on each of two campuses. The program, which is open to current juniors only, with exceptions made for sophomores in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses of up to 300 students each.

To be eligible students must meet selection criteria, including an achievement test score at, or above, the 92nd percentile.
