Rabbit Lake Saskatchewan – Breck Scaffolding Solutions

Spring/Summer of 2015 Breck Scaffold Solutions at Rabbit Lake ran at 66% female ration. Under the direction of Joel Garr helped complete the project this fall. Congratulations to Dannielle Stone, Tegan Schroeder, Jenna Carlson and Mary Ann Ochapowace.

Rabbit Lake operation, which opened in 1975 is the longest operating uranium production facility in North America, and the second largest uranium mill in the world. This location is the first Canadian mine to introduce seven days in/Seven days out commuter system and is 100% owned by Cameco. This site total production of uranium from 1975 to 2014 was 198.2 million pounds, with 4.2 million pounds being mined in 2014. Rabbit Lake employs over 300 Cameco staff and about an equal number if long term contractor employees. Breck Scaffolding Solutions is one of those contractors that was on site working with Tron Power to assist with the Maintenance of this this project.

The Rabbit Lake site is a Uranium Mine run under Cameco Northern Saskatchewan and they strive to communicate with the individuals in the community on the plans and activities on site such as public meetings, school visits, annual tours, and meetings with local leadership or drop in visits at their satellite offices. This site gives back to their surrounding communities. The residents of Saskatchewan’s north make up almost 50% of their northern workforce, with 41% being aboriginal. Since 2004 they have procured over $3 billion in services from the local suppliers in the region; over $300 million was procured in 2014 alone.

Breck operates on a year round basis and as such are accustomed to working in extreme temperatures at both ends of the spectrums on both internal and external builds on various site throughout Saskatchewan and uses the trained members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America to assist with all these projects such as Rabbit Lake which started in April of 2015.

Breck has many of local 1985 Sisters working on various sites throughout Saskatchewan but this site had the highest ratio at 66%. Congratulations to all on site for a successful contract being completed. It is always a pleasure to work with Breck Scaffold Solutions.
