Quick Guide --Photo Story 3 for Windows
**Create a project folder where you will save the project, music, photos, and video.**
Open PhotoStory3 from all programs.
Choose “Begin a new story.”
Select “Next.” /
Use the “Next” and “Back” buttons to go back and forth between menu options. This allows you to import or add items at anytime. **Do not forget to save often. The default location for saving is in “My Documents”, “My Videos.”
“Import and arrange your pictures”
To begin, click on the “Import Pictures” button.
You will need to browse for the folder where your pictures are located. /
You may insert one photo at a time, or you may choose to select all photos in a folder by holding down the “Ctrl” key and pressing the letter “A.” Release these keys and all the pictures in the folder will be highlighted. After doing this, click “OK.”
As you select photos in the storyboard, you have the option to “Edit” each one.
Select the photo you want to edit.
Click on the buttons under the picture to edit,or click on the “Edit” button under the view pane. The edit box will appear. /
*You will need to edit each picture individually.“Add a title to your pictures”
Photo Story only allows you to place titles over pictures. To add or modify titles, you must select the picture, and use the tools to the right of the view pane.
If you would like to add a title with only a color background, locate your “Title Backgrounds” folder and import color picture.
Refer to the previous section for directions on importing.
*Remember to SAVE your project after you make any changes. /
Photo Story Resources can be found on the (X:) Drive in the Teacher Tools folder.
*Save the resource folder to your (K:) drive for students to access.
“Narrate your pictures and customize motion”
You will need to have a microphone available to add narration.
Click on the picture you want to narrate.
Type your script into thetele-prompter box.You may choose to read it from a paper.
Click on the RED record button and read your script.
As you add narration a speech bubble will be add to the picture. /
You can move pictures at any time. Click on the picture you want to move. Just “drag and drop” it, or use the arrow buttons to move the order of the pictures.*You will need to narrate each picture separately.
“Narrate your pictures and customize motion”
After you have narrated your pictures, you may choose to change the motion, duration, or transitions of the pictures.
Click on each picture you want to modify.
Choose the “Custom Motion” button. /
After clicking on the “Custom Motion” button, this box will appear.Change settings as needed.
*Remember to SAVE after you make any changes.
“Add background music”
Just like with narration, click on the picture where you want the music to start.
Click on “Select the music,” and locate the song you want to add.
You may add multiple songs. Click on the picture where you want the next song to begin.
Again, click on “Select the music,” and locate the song you want to add.
The program automatically fades the music in and out as new songs begin and end. /
*If using music from freeplaymusic.com, make sure you add credits at the end of the movie: “Music provided by freeplaymusic.com.” (All music in the PhotoStory Resources folder is from this website and must be cited in the credits.)
“Save your story”
Even though you have been saving you story throughout the process, you must take this final step to create the movie file that will play in Windows Media Player.
Choose “Save your story for playback on your computer.”
Specify the file name and location where you want to save the file.
*YOU MUST SELECT NEXT TO FINSH THE RENDERING PROCESS!*
If you do not specify the name or where, Photo Story will save it to your “My Video” folder found in “My Documents.” /
The save process is not complete until you select next. You will then see a dialog box appear and the window will show the % complete until it is made into your movie file.
This is the movie file being created.
The default file name is PhotoStory1.wmv / *Save your project here in case you want to do more editing later. You may now exit, locate your video, and view your outstanding work.
