THURSDAY, MARCH 10
Depart your school early this morning via chartered coach for Quebec City. Late afternoon arrival, followed by meeting your guide and checking in at your hotel. Enjoy DINNER this evening in one of the many fine restaurants in Old Quebec, followed by a brief orientation walking tour around the Upper Town. Return to your hotel later this evening.
FRIDAY, MARCH 11
Begin sightseeing this morning with your guided walking tour of Old and New Quebec, including Dufferin Terrace; Place Royale and the Quartier Champlain, the site where the town was settled originally in 1608; the French and Latin Quarters; and the Plains of Abraham, a 235-acre stretch of greenery where the English General Wolfe did battle with the French general, the Marquis de Montcalm. After time for lunch (individual’s expense) in Old Quebec, you’ll travel just outside of Quebec, where you’ll enjoy a dog-sledding adventure! Everyone will have an opportunity to drive a two-person sled pulled by huskies or malamutes, dogs traditionally known for their resistance to cold weather conditions. Return to Quebec City in time for shopping in the old town, and then this evening you’ll go to the hockey game between the Quebec Remparts and Rouyn-Noranda. Dinner on your own at the arena. Return to your hotel later tonight.
SATURDAY, MARCH 12
This morning you’ll leave Old Quebec for a visit to the Beaupre Coast, where you’ll stop at Chez Marie for BREAKFAST and a chance to sample her homebaked bread and maple butter, and at Atelier Pare (woodcarver’s shop). You’ll also visit the shrine of Ste. Anne de Beaupre, a destination of millions of pilgrims from all over the world, and you’ll also stop at Montmorency Falls, more than one and a half times the height of Niagara Falls!This afternoon your group will travel the short distance to the Village des Sports, a winter sports park with tubing, ice skating, and rafting on snow, where you’ll enjoy the balance of the afternoon. This evening you’ll travel just outside of Quebec City to a sugar shack, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Quebecois farmhouse DINNER, served family style! The evening also includes Quebecois entertainment, including spoon playing!
SUNDAY, MARCH 13
Depart this morning for Western New York, with a scheduled evening arrival at the school.
