WALB provides local five-minute news updates at 7:24AM, 7:55AM, 8:24AM, 8:55AM, 9:24AM and 9:55AM.

Both weekend broadcasts continue the “Today” tradition of covering breaking news, interviewing newsmakers, reporting on a variety of popular culture and human-interest stories, covering topics related to health and finance, and presenting the latest sports and weather information.

NBC Nightly NewsMonday – Friday6:30PM – 7:00PM

“NBC Nightly News” provides reports and analysis of the day’s most newsworthy national and international events. It offers solution-driven programming that delves into the toughest issues facing our society today. A twice-weekly series, “An American Close-up” profiles men and women who have helped improve the human condition. Every Friday evening, Brokaw ends the broadcast with his “In Their Own Words” segments, wherein a newsmaker of the week describes an accomplishment or a defeat in his or her own words.

The weekend editions of “NBC Nightly News” provide complete and timely reports on national and international events that take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Show puts into clear focus the national and international stories that drive the day’s news. The show’s award-winning combination of breaking news, hard hitting interviews, exclusive investigations, cutting-edge medical information and financial reporting.

ABC World News Tonight Monday-Sunday 6:30PM-7:00PMProvides the latest information and analysis of major events from around the country and the world.

Nightline Monday-Friday 11:35PM-12:00AM

The half-hour program provides viewers with in-depth reporting on the major stories in the news. “Nightlines” multi-anchor, multi-format allows the program to travel more readily, and report breaking news on the scene as it happens. The show is known for its probing interviews, its coverage of global news events, and broadcast innovations like live town meetings.

It looks as if the system will have to repay the state at least 90-thousand dollars. Tonight, the school system attorney presented board members with the results of his investigation into how administrators hired contractors without Board approval. / 2:19
Children/Education / 7/16/2012 / 11 00 PM / DOUGHERTY CRCT SCORES / Dougherty County School officials say there's a lot to be proud of with this year's C-R-C-T results. The state recently released data from each school. Dougherty County officials say there is room for improvement but several schools had outstanding results. / 0:30
Children/Education / 7/25/2012 / 11 00 PM / FOOD BANK CONSTRUCTION / Construction is also underway on a project at Second Harvest of South Georgia in Albany that will help feed more children. A new kitchen and facility area are being built at the Cordele Avenue location to improve the Kids Cafe Program. That after school program tutors and feeds children. / 0:25

The meeting was held at Civil Rights museum and several Albany Police officers were on hand to give crime fighting and personal safety tips. / 0:21

The latest happened last week in Mitchell County and now public health officials are urging yet again for folks to vaccinate their pets and be on the lookout for rabid animals. / 1:46
Community Development / 7/9/2012 / 6 00PM / LUKE BRYANS MOM / Georgia's attorney general today asked the state Supreme Court to expedite an appeal from a death row inmate whose execution was delayed last night. The Court granted a stay of execution to Warren Lee Hill to consider his appeal over the state's switching the drugs given for execution. / 0:34

We've told you about those new regulations that require you to renew in person with extra forms of identification. / 0:25

You must apply by July 31st. Last year, more than 15-thousand people from across the nation applied for just 850 permits. They expect more applicants this year. I / 0:29
Community Development / 7/24/2012 / Today in Georgia 5am / AG DEPUTY SECRETARY 11 / The widespread drought now covers 61-percent of the country but a top Ag official says it's worst here in South Georgia. The Deputy U-S Secretary of Agriculture toured drought-stricken South Georgia farms yesterday. Kathleen Merrigan says our area has been in a drought since 2009. / 0:26

It was 16 years ago tonight that a bomb blast killed an Albany woman in Olympic Park in Atlanta. 44-year old Alice Hawthorne died when a pipe-bomb loaded with nails exploded during a concert in Centennial Olympic Park. / 0:38

Gas prices have finally hit below three dollars in Albany and motorists are grateful for the drop, with prices almost reaching four dollars earlier this year. / 0:20

It creates two off-campus in spending related to the institution. A lot of people who aren't are turning on the faucets to find nothing's coming out. The ongoing drought is lowering the water table on forcing many south Georgians to dig deeper wells. Crime & Law Enforcement / 7/2/2012 / 11 00 PM / PRISON GUARD PLEADS GUILTY / A former south Georgia prison guard could now face prison time after pleading guilty today in an inmate abuse case. 24-year-old Willie Redden was a member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team at Macon State Prison in Oglethorpe. Today he admitted that he and other corrections officers beat an inmate. / 0:40
Crime & Law Enforcement / 7/2/2012 / 11 00 PM / RIGGINS TRIBUNAL / It will be up to Governor Nathan Deal to decided if Dougherty County School Board member Velvet Riggins be removed a from office. A three member panel made that recommendation last Friday. Riggins is awaiting trial on charges she falsified paperwork to get free school lunches for her child. / 0:24
Crime & Law Enforcement / 7/4/2012 / 7 56 UPDATE / RETREAT ROBBERY 11 / The search continues for two men who violently robbed a desk clerk at The Retreat at Lake Blackshear early yesterday morning. Around 1:15, two men demanded money from desk clerk Brittney Garland and then hit her. Deputies are reviewing surveillance video. / 0:20
Crime & Law Enforcement / 7/10/2012 / Today in Georgia 6am / COCK FIGHTING RING BUSTED / There are new details on the weekend raid of a cock fighting operation in Colquitt County. Investigators arrested 32 people and seized dozens of roosters. They say the elaborate setup with concession stands drew people from out-of-state to bet on the brutal and illegal bloodsport. / 1:48
Crime & Law Enforcement / 7/17/2012 / Today in Georgia 6am / BOMB THREAT SENTENCING 11 / A Doerun man was sentenced to prison yesterday for calling in a bomb threat that disrupted the entire Colquitt County School System. 26-year-old Xavier Sims was sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison. He was apparently upset at police over previous arrests that landed him in prison. / 0:22

Lowndes County Deputies and the F-B-I searched two homes yesterday. They found stolen personal information from at least 15-hundred people at a house on Lausanne Street. / 0:25
Environment / 7/9/2012 / 6 00PM / MAKE ALBANY BEAUTIFUL / Most students are enjoying the freedom that comes with their summer vacation but some are giving up part of their break to help others. Every summer, a youth group from Jacksonville, Florida takes a mission trip to Albany. Today, they teamed up with "Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful." / 1:54
Government / 7/3/2012 / 11 00 PM / SCHOOL LUNCH AUDIT 11 / The Dougherty County school system could be in danger of losing money for its free and reduced price lunch program, at least temporarily. State officials are investigating. They don't think numbers provided by the system are accurate and they say they were denied access to information. / 0:28
Government / 7/9/2012 / 11 00 PM / DRIVERS LICENSE TROUBLE / So many Georgians are complaining about new driver's license regulations. Some state lawmakers are sending out news releases to explain the changes. The first thing they want you to know is don't blame them. The changes are mandated by the federal government. / 0:38

Government / 7/24/2012 / 11 00 PM / JOB FAIR FOR VETS / Hundreds of out-of-work veterans showed up at Wiregrass Technical College today hoping to find a job. The support group Valdosta Veterans First organized a job fair as part of its mission to help vets and their families make the transition from the military to civilian life. / 0:24

Commissioner John Hayes requested the library board to address the commissioners who still had unanswered questions. Many of them wondering why the Westtown and Southside libraries were selected. / 0:26
Healthcare / 7/11/2012 / 11 00 PM / PHOEBE NORTH WOMEN CHILDREN / Phoebe Putney plans to create the city's first pediatric intensive care unit at the former Palmyra Medical Center. Today, the Phoebe board officially decided to turn Phoebe North into a womens and childrens hospital. Inpatient rehabilitation is also moving to the facility this month. / 0:30

Five people in Newton County were recently diagnosed and a doctor at a children's hospital in Atlanta says they're seeing twice the number of cases as last year. It's highly contagious. / 0:28

A 64-year-old Dougherty County man, the first person confirmed to have the disease in south Georgia this year, is recovering.
