Essential Qualifications (Education, Training and Experience) / Y/N and Relevant DATES / Details
Grade 12
Graduation from an approved university or technical institution with a degree or diploma in a related field with 2 continuous years or 4 field seasons (minimum 3 months each) related fire experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Supervisory experience, preferably in an unionized workforce (12 months continuous or two field seasons supervisory exp. required of field crews preferably);
Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Certification as Incident Commander 4
Desirable Qualifications (Education, Training and Experience) / Y/N and Relevant DATES / Clearly demonstrate HOW,WHEN, WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by example(s).
Prefer certification as an Incident Commander 3 or equivalent
Working knowledge of fire cause, fire behaviour, fire weather and the Canadian Forest Fire Danger Rating System;
Considerable knowledge of fire suppression methods, tools, strategies, terminology, resource management and associated capabilities (aircraft, personnel, equipment etc.);
Ability to direct and motivate individuals; and delegate, monitor and evaluate their performance (i.e. Crew Leaders and Members, emergency fire fighters or contractors).
Demonstrated experience instructing and delivering fire suppression relatedtraining;
Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to a variety of people, orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to use variety of computer applications and software;(including BCWS programs).
