Qualifications & Expectations for Mentors and Mentees

I want to mentor/coach someone:

  • Have a vibrant walk with Christ and be Spirit-filled
  • Have a passion for student ministry and experience in student ministry
  • Model both evangelism and discipleship in your life and ministry
  • Model humility and servanthood
  • Commit to meeting with the person you are mentoring weekly or monthly via skype, phone call, sit-down visit, or any other preferred method that you wish to use.
  • In your conversations hold them accountable regarding their walk with God, evangelism, leadership, discipleship, and purity. Use the Student Ministry 101 booklet as a guide if you need to as a resource.
  • The mentor/mentee relationship should last no longer than one year, and then they should be challenged to pour into another student minister. The goal is multiplication and raising up leaders that will reach and disciple more students. Keep your conversations around these key areas of ministry: evangelism, discipleship, a personal walk with Christ that includes prayer and Bible intake apart from lesson and sermon prep, purity, family life, leadership, and team building.
  • Participate in the annual SBTC Student Ministers Getaway
