PSYCHOSEXUALITY WORKSHOP

This workshop will provide the knowledge and skills to help practitioners work more confidently with issues around sexual functioning and is designed for those wishing to become more skilled in working therapeutically with clients who present with sexual issues. The workshop will consider:

  • Primary and secondary presenting issues
  • Overt and covert presentations
  • Who presents and why - why now, what has changed?
  • Psychological, physical and relational causes
  • Fears and fantasies, function and feeling
  • Needs and desires, inhibitions and blocks
  • The couple relationship
  • Attachment issues
  • Taking a sexual history
  • Treatment modalities, e.g. Masters and Johnson

Case histories will be explored to illustrate the key points being delivered.

Dr. Christopher is a Jungian analyst. She is the author of a number ofpapers on sexuality and is co-editor of ‘Jungian Thought in the Modern World’ and ‘Contemporary Jungian Clinical Practice’. She is a retired medical consultant for Family Planning and Reproductive Care in Haringey as well as a consultant at the Psychosexual Clinic at UCLH. She is a member of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine, a member of the British Psychoanalytical Council and a senior member of the British Psychotherapy Foundation.
