7th grade Summer Reading Project - 2014

It’s summer time! Now what do I do? Read! Even though school is out for break, you shouldn’t let your brain take a break from reading. Go to summer camp, to the beach or just hang out with your friends, but remember read over the summer. To help prepare you for 7th grade, and to keep your brain working, please complete the project below. Be prepared to turn this project in when you return to school at the beginning of your 7th grade year.

STEP ONE: Pick ONE book from the list below within your Lexile range. Ask your teacher if you do not know your Lexile.

STEP TWO: Read your book from cover to cover. Don’t be afraid to take notes as you go along!

STEP THREE: On a piece of white computer paper (or poster board) create a Story Information Board. You will discuss the setting, plot, characters and theme. You page should be set up like the example below:

STEP FOUR: Make sure that you have written your project in pen! Also, make sure your pictures are colorful, neat and represent your written work. This is 7th grade, and we are expecting work that looks like you are ready to prepare yourself for high school.

STEP FIVE: Checklist! Make sure you check off that you did each element of the project. This is a great way to anticipate what grade you will receive.
