QHA Easter Raffle is a cracking success
Registered charity Queen’s Hall Arts (QHA) is delighted to announce that it raised over £1,200 in ticket sales through a recent Easter Raffle. Arts Council England is currently match funding all donations the charity receives, thus bringing the grand total raised to £2,400. Funds raised will be used to develop and deliver arts projects for young people in the local area.
As part of on on-going partnership, Beales Department Store in Hexham kindly donated three hampers of Easter treats for QHA to use as raffle prizes. Raffle tickets were sold by both organisations for £1 each in the three weeks running up to Easter.
Sharon West, Development Manger at QHA said: “We are delighted with the success of our first Easter Raffle. This is one of a number of new initiatives where we are looking to diversify our income streams. We would like to thank Beales for their fantastic support, and thank everyone who bought a ticket – the funds raised will help keep the arts thriving in our community”.
The winners of the Easter Raffle were all Hexham residents. 1st Prize went to Lindsey Graham who regularly attends performances at QHA, 2nd Prize went to Town Councillor Christine Hanleywho is a member of the Queen’s Hall Friends group, and 3rd Prize went to Elizabeth Hogg a Beales customer.
Hannah Swann, Store Director at Beales, said: ’Beales is committed to making a positive impact in our community. We are therefore delighted to be working in partnership with the Queen’s Hall Arts charity to help develop some great arts experiences for our local young people”.

- Queen’s Hall Arts (QHA) is the company that manages the Queen’s Hall Arts Centre venue within the Queen’s Hall, Hexham.
- The Queen’s Hall building is a magnificent early Victorian building which faces Hexham Abbey (dating from 647AD). From its christening as an arts centre in 1983 until the hand over to the charitable organisation, Queens Hall Arts, in 2001 the building was under local authority control.
- Queen’s Hall Arts Centre boasts a 350-seat theatre and two galleriesmanaged by Queen’s Hall Arts. Queen’s Hall has established itself as a strong base for an extensive range of artistic activity, attracting the best international and national artists from music, drama, dance and national touring comedy to non professional shows put on by local community groups.
- In addition to activity in the building, QHA delivers an extensive outreach programme bringing workshops and performances to communities throughout Northumberland.
- The Queen's Hall is also home to the Little Angel Café, Hexham Library, Hexham Tourist Information Centre and the Hexham Book Festival.
