QDN Ready to go NDIS – Schedule of Plan ahead workshops in Central Region

QDN’s Ready to go team has finalised details of the next round of Plan ahead NDIS workshops for people with intellectual or learning disability – part of Department-funded participant readiness activities.

Here are details of workshops scheduled in Rockhampton for FEBRUARY 2015. We will be scheduling workshops in Maryborough and Hervey Bay for the next quarter from April-June.

NDIS Readiness workshops: FEBRUARY: Gladstone, Biloela

A friendly reminder of the 2 workshops Parent to Parent Association Qld look forward to sharing in February 2015.

Each of the workshops will be approximately 5 hours long. These workshops are specifically aimed at the older carer and will increase their preparedness for the future when the National Disability Insurance Scheme is introduced in Queensland. We will discuss things like, the importance of planning for when you are no longer able to care, how to identify your son or daughter’s dreams and aspirations and who you may engage to assist your son or daughter reach their identified goals. When the time comes for you and your person to meet with the NDIS planner this information will be very helpful for you both. Recording the visionprovides an opportunity to create a Planning Alternate Tomorrows with Hope (refer to PATH Fact Sheet) for your person, to explore their visions and dreams for the future, to identify their gifts and strengths, to set some goals and then to document what steps are needed for them to achieve those goals.

Free workshops - Assessing Your Business with the Organisational Development Toolkit

NDS is holding a series of seven free workshops focussing on NDIS readiness for disability service providers in Queensland.
These workshops will be presented by NDS staff and will run participants through the use of the Business Development Package including the online Organisational Development Toolkit and the range of business development resources developed as part of the Sector Readiness & Workforce Capacity Initiative.
Following the workshop organisations will be able to complete the online Organisation Development Toolkit involving key stakeholders (board, management, staff, volunteers and customers). Resources will also be provided to participants of the workshops.
A second round of free workshops will be held in April on major financial issues facing organisations (Costing, Pricing, Key Financial Ratios etc.) as they transition to the NDIS.
Who should attend this workshop? Managers and other key personnel of disability service providers/organisations.
Important Information Completion of the Toolkit online will be a requirement for organisations to attend the finance workshops in April.
