Basketball FAQ’s

Q: When and where will practice be?

A: There will be two practices during the week at the LMS or LES gym before games start. Once games start your coach will go to one practice a week with possibly a second optional practice. Practice will be in the evening with the younger age groups getting the earlier time slots. Practice times can only be determined once registration ends we know how many teams there are to schedule.

Q: When and where will games be?

A: Games will be on Saturday. The games will take place at various school gyms in our area. Game schedules and locations can only be determined once all of the involved organizations have closed registration and have turned in team numbers.

** There are several organizations that work together to create a schedule for over 100teams. That is over 50 games a weekend. Once that schedule is made and officials are hired the only time games are changed is for weather related issues. As you can imagine changing one game will result in a ripple down effect on the rest of the teams.

Also there is no option to change a game and pay for the officials yourself. The ref’s have a 4 game booking minimum and will not come out for one game.

If you as a coach cannot make a game please plan on an assistant coach filling in. **

Q: What is the attendance policy for practices & games?

A: We often have smaller teams to ensure your child is getting plenty of experience & game time. Missing practices regularly effects the whole team. It is at the coach’s discretion to determine your child playing time in a game if that child has regularly been missing practice. Missing games on a regular basiscan result in your team having to forfeit. Obviously there are instances where this has to happen due to illness or prior family plans. Please communicate any known times your child will not be at a practice or game ASAP to your coach. Please keep this in mind when registering if your child is already committed to other teams or activities.

Q: How is my child placed on a team?

A: We hold a skills day for each age division. If there is enough for multiple teams the coaches for that group and the basketball director will meet to review each child’s skills day grade and draft teams. If your child is unable to attend skills day no worries they will still be put on a team!An important part of this is having parents volunteering to coach a team before skills day for this process to work best. Please volunteer to help coach if possible.

Q: Can I put in requests for certain practice days or to be on a certain team?

A: Yes you can. However we will have to work with everyone’s requests and make the best decisions possible for that division. Therefore it cannot be promised that your request will be granted.

Q: Can I register my child AFTER skills day?A: No. You may register at skills day but not after. Your child MUST be registered to participate at skills day. After skills day teams are created and no children will be added to teams after that point. Contact for any additional questions
