PUMA AND USAIN BOLT LAUNCH ATHLETIC TRAINING COLLECTION

The Bolt Collection is Designed By Bolt, Inspired by His Performance and Made for Everyday Wear (and every night)

Herzogenaurach/Germany– March 27, 2010 – Usain Bolt has a simple formula for success; be the fastest man in the world and look good doing it – oh and dance when you’re done. PUMA introduces the Bolt Collection, an athletic training collection of apparel, footwear and accessories, designed by Usain Bolt to withstand a hard-core workout but with undeniable street-style.

The Bolt Collection incorporates Bolt’s favorite colors, preferred styles and silhouettes. It’s a collection that he wants to work out in or wear to the club for a long night of DJ-ing. The

cornerstone of the collection is the Bolt Crest. The crest is a compilation of different symbols near and dear to Bolt’s heart. The lion heads are iconic symbols of Jamaican culture, the lightening bolt stands for Usain’s more than appropriate nicknameand the saying ‘To Di World’ is the name of Bolt’s trademark pose. The crest sits on a backdrop of a track – or as Bolt likes to call it “the office” – and the sun burst symbolizes Bolt’s home country of Jamaica – for which he won three Olympic Gold medals.

PUMA’s design teams worked closely with Usain Bolt during the product development phase and gave him an opportunity to wear-test the products to ensure they met his rigorous standards. “Throughout the years, I’ve helped PUMA design the track spikes that I compete in, but it’s been fun to get involved in the development of these fitness and lifestyle products,” said Usain Bolt. “The Bolt Crest is a symbol of all that is important to me—running, home, and my country.Being able to put my stamp on these products is an honor. I hope people will like what we’ve created.”

Key Styles in the Collection

HOODED SWEAT JACKET

Functional for training, this jacket is soft, lightweight, and made of the U.S.P. moisture management fabric. The Kangaroo pocket has a hidden compartment for an mp3 player and an eyelet for earphones. With ‘BOLT’ written prominently across the hood and the crest on the back, there’s no mistaking who designed this jacket.

SPEED SHORTS

Designed specifically for runners, by the world’s fastest runner, these shorts are made with U.S.P. performance fabric, designed for a tough workout. They feature moisture management, and afriction-reducing inner brief that delivers, compression, support and comfort. The outer layer is made with silver reflective materials to enhance visibility in low light conditions. The unforgettable lightning bolt pattern is embossed all over the shorts and a single zip back pocket is added for additional convenience. Bolt’s trademark pose on the front and the PUMA Cat logo on the back reflect in eye-catching gold.

LS TOP

The “To Di World” pose dominates the center of the PUMA LS TOP. Running-inspired back panel, articulated sleeves, and stretchable material allow you to move freely. The “Ice Cool” U.S.P. performance fabric is highly breathable and protects against overheating by maintaining an even body temperature during training. Silver reflective U.S.P. logo on the back enhances visibility in low light conditions. Comfortable, functional, and bold, LS TOP makes a statement whatever your sporting style.

BOLT YUGO RUN

PUMA’s BOLT YUGO RUN is inspired by the YAAM, the infamous track spike that Bolt wore during the 2009 World Championship in Berlin. The shoe features a big cat logo wrapped around the toe and shimmers in an iridescent black. Bolt’s signature “To Di World” pose on the tongue and the heel shines in gold like the medal he won in the 2008 Olympics for his home country of Jamaica. The lightweight air mesh upper provides top breathability. With extra cushioning and added flexibility, the soles give traction for both sprinting and long distance running.

The Bolt Collection will be available at retail and online in the US beginning in June 2010 and in European and Asian markets beginning in July 2010. For more information, visit

PUMA first encountered Bolt when he was 14 years old and immediately recognized him as a talent to watch. And not just on the track as he showed signs of super human speed, but off the track as he moved through life with a great sense of humor and sense of play. His unique blend of athleticism and fun was an ideal fit for the sportlifestyle company, which signed Bolt at age 16. PUMA continues to foster young talent through their sponsorship of many high schools track and field programs and events--most notably, the Jamaican Boys & Girls Champs which is lauded as the most popular sporting event in Jamaica.
