Public hearings will be held on Tuesday,June 5, 2012,at 7:00 p.m. in theGeneral District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After the public hearings, the Planning Commission will makerecommendations to the Board of Supervisors (“BOS”) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (“BZA”). The schedule containstwo(2) Rezoning Applications and one (1) Special Use Permit Application. The BOS will hold a public hearing and rule on two(2) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, June19, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia.The BZA will hold a public hearing and rule on one (1) Special Use Permit Application on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. Copies of the proposed Rezoning Applications and Special Use Permit Applicationare available for public review in the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Case1 Frank Keatts, Jr., & Sandra K. Keatts, R-12-025 – The property is 2.51 acres, located on State Road 841/Medical Center Road, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1441-68-3071/132-A-11. The applicants are requesting to rezone from B-2, Business District, General, to RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, to allow for placement of a single-wide mobile home on the property. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, Generaluses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case 2Claude Davis ReynoldsH, R-12-026– The properties are a total of22.71 acres, three parcels of land, located on Highway 57/Callands Road and State Road 657/South Briar Mountain Road, in the Callands-GretnaElection District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 1476-01-1236/94-A-7 (1.00 acre), 1476-01-5330/94-A-6 (1.26 acre), and 1476-20-5803/94-A-54 (20.45 acres). The applicant isrequesting to rezone fromR-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to make the zoning consistent with the adjacent parcels of land. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, Generaluses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case S-1 Michael Lee Hughes, S-12-007 – The property is 2.00 acres, located on State Road 883/CampviewRoad, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1399-18-3184/149-7-3. The property is zoned R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for placement of a single-wide mobile home for a family member’s residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, Generaluses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
