PTSA Board Meeting Minutes 6/13/17
PTSA president - Welcome, approved May board meeting minutes.
Treasurer - Income $8,292.38; Expenses $13,589.50; Checking account balance $6,612.63; CD balance $3,702.64; Total in accounts $10,315.27.
Principal - Graduation Saturday, June 17, 5pm. Doors open4pm. No decorated caps. School board meeting June 20 with announcement of new principal?
Programs - Continuing push for "Screenagers" to be viewed in school starting fall 2017. Waiting communication with new principal. FIrst Colonial and Lynnhaven MS participating. Suggestions for getting program started at Cox-using smart boards, hosting joint event at Cox for 5th grade and up, need to promote community discussion. Television show 60 Minutes did a segment on the Screenagers video June 11.
Membership - All records are complete and ready to turn over to Chad.
PTSA President - Buick Sales Drive and corn hole tourney event successful. 157 accurate drives. Raised $3,140 to be split with SCA. Four corn hole entries-raised $55. Able to sell boards and donated custom made boards to ANG raffle.
Held General Meeting 5/31-PTSA President presented Treasurer’s Report, Reflections contest award and nominees for 2017-18 PTSA Executive Board. Those nominated were Missy Dixon, President, Shawn Holland, Vice President – Programs, Chad McGill, Vice President – Membership, Mandy McCall – Treasurer, Julie Freeman – Secretary. All officers were elected to their respective office. Please see separate meeting minutes for the May 31 General Assembly Meeting.
Committee Reports
Faculty Rep - SOL testing complete except for AAPPL testing. Exams this week. Come prepared for Saturday's graduation.
Hospitality - Thank you for the treats!
Scholarship - Announced the three PTSA Scholarship awardees. The three students receiving each $1,000 are Brendan Lawlor, KirstynBergethon and Katie Smith.
Book Sale - We are in good shape for next year. There is much volunteer interest being received.
ANG - Job well done ANG committee! 90 students attending Spirit of Norfolk party June 17. While the number of tickets sold is lower than previous years, over $1,600 will be carried over to next year. Suggestions for acquiring a larger student attendance number-more support from administration such as getting into classrooms to promote and selling tickets in a "grad package" similar to other high schools.
Missy Dixon will be taking over as PTSA President in June.
