Erica Carter motioned to approve budget. Motion was seconded by Michelle Sublette.
Budget was unanimously approved as presented.
August treasurer’s report:
Beginning Cash: $19,171.08
Ending Cash: $22,623.23
Income received from Membership Sales, T-shirt Sales, Movie Night and Direct Donations.
No Expenses to report.

PTA General Membership Vote for VA PTA Proposed Legislative Program - Erica Carter
PTA Activities:
Membership - Molly Westerhold
Membership drive going well. 80% to goal. Very excited! Membership doesn't have anything to do with volunteering. Membership expenses go to state & national dues to ensure that we have a vote and a voice in issues at the state and local level. Giving magnets with membership for $5. When directories are ready in October, they will be sent home as well. Anyone in community is welcome to join. Membership form also on website if you need additional copies.
Incentive Rewards Program - Lori Moyer/Amanda Bass
Lori reported that the Biggest change: Kroger gift cards. Now you link your card to CSES PTA as your organization. Money will come back to the school - much easier. General Mills Box Tops. It makes the process much easier if they are taped in increments 10's, 25's or 50's. If anything before Nov1 2014 don't use. 5k by October 15 will get Mrs. Poff Slimed at Trick or Treat night. Campell's Labels for educations. Need bar codes & point values if included on the label. Tyson Project A+ earns 24 cents/label. Terracycle Capri Sun Recycling Brigade. Box in cafeteria - 2 cents/pouch. Recycling & making $ for CSES. There will be 4 restaurant nights to earn money for CSES this year: Chik Fila, Chipotle & working on 2 others.
DI Program - Cindy Appel/Christina Croteau
Showed short video. Kick off meeting and sign ups begin Sept 10 @ 6:00 pm in Library and close Sept 15. Teams announced Sept 22. Team manager training in October.
STEAM - Kim Smith
Trying to find more balance in educating our students; there is a new school mission statement. We've become overly concerned about testing and want to get back to meaningful learning. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math. Work areas for teamwork & collaboration. Any support or donations will be accepted. Grant from SeaPerch for building underwater rovers for 5th graders.
Reflections - Pam Taylor/Sharon Virostek
Program welcomes all ages & abilities to get involved in the arts. Theme is "The world would be a better place if....." Deadlines are Oct 24. Info available in hallway or PTA website.
Erica's final comments:
It is about the numbers.
375 Families, 60 staff, 44 years ago CSES began, 42 volunteers on board, 29 board committees, 21 library volunteers weekly, Over 15 special programs, 11 board meetings 6 general meetings, 9 Monthly newsletters, 8 volunteers needed to help in lunchroom each week, 6 CSES cares programs, 6 elected positions, 5 fundraising opportunities (read a thon, art, bingo night, incentive rewards, direct donations).
3 class parties per grade x 25 = 75 parties, $25000 funds needed to go directly to staff, $6200 to PTA programs and operational costs, $15000 last year in addition went to CSES, $5 memberships to make our voice heard.

Introduced faculty & staff. Recognized Ann Currin has retired & working out her days this year.
Introduced Drew Barrineau who briefly spoke and introduced himself as a member of the school board for Windsor Hills Magisterial District.
Mrs. Poff resumed her comments & mentioned that Dr. Lange said that our students are more than test scores. She went on to say that the goal is for the students to be contributing, productive members of society. Well rounded learners. STEAM efforts - science, technology, engineering, art & math. Includes 2 labs with hands-on discovery, creation, collaboration, 21st century skills.
Encouraged parents to get involved! Be a learner right alongside your child! Don't every hesitate to let us know if there's anything you need.
