  • Move Night: The next movie night will take place on May 12. Kate will sign the year license: $510 for the entire year and it covers us for three movie nights as long as we do them prior to May 1 next year. • April 6 is the PBIS: Showing Trolls as a quarterly celebration for the kids.

  • Staff Appreciation Week (May 1 - 5) - Lisa Shellenberger is leading this. The budget is ~$1,500

  • Field Day - June 1. The PTA supports with water, snow cones, and assembly.
  • Box Tops: Grandmother of a student won 5,000 box tops, which is equal to $500 for the PTA. There will be one more push in the spring, so we are on track to meet our $1,700 budget.
  • Elections Update: We will open up the entire board and all positions and aggressively promote them. We need to get some new blood active in the PTA and get the next generation in and engaged.
  • We will put out an email that states: "Save Our PTA". The by-laws state that we have to do our elections in May. In order to make this deadline. We have to advertise the nominees for 10 days. The elections chair is Christina Lee.
  • Principal Hahn will send out the email message and make it prominent and the only message in the communication. We can also put a succinct description of the positions in a flier in the Friday folders.

Administration Update: Principal Hahn

  • In March we had STEM and Family Fitness Night. They were well attended and brought in a diverse group of students.
  • Last day of school is June 14. The 13th and 14th will be early dismissal.
  • June 13th will be the 5th grade closing.
  • On Thursday, the school is wearing blue for Autism Awareness month.
  • Friday, April 21 is JA Day. Will need volunteers for this.
  • Beth Ivey will work with 4th graders - Cheetahs for Change. Students will collect change for a charity and will then go to a leadership assembly in May.
  • The School Board has delayed a decision on the start and stop times for school. There are currently not enough buses and drivers available to implement an alternate solution.
  • There has been quite a bit of turnover with students. Another bus has been added for the homes off Route 1. In 2018 a new elementary will be opening and then there will be some redistricting.
  • Staffing: Staff members know what their positions are for next year. We should not lose anyone for next year.
  • Testing is coming up. Made it through 5th year Science assessment. It is a field study, so no individual scores.
  • PARC Testing: Bellows does not treat testing as a special event. They do not want students to feel stressed because it is a PARC day.

Treasurer Update: Donna Hadley

  • Donna Hadley will send the updated budget to Kristen and she will post it to the PTA website.
  • There is no line item for the School Play in the PTA budget. Purchases parents make for scenery and costumes arenot reimbursed by the PTA. We are all set for the sound system for the school play.

  • Once we get the school supply lists, Warnette has said that she will help with managing the fundraiser and will also stay on as the hospitality chair.
  • Popsicles and Playtime: June 8. We will promote the school supplies to parents. We will need to provide a sample to sell it.

Bingo Night Update:

  • There were a lot people. Kids had fun. Teachers came through with all of the raffles. There was a lot of thought put into the raffles.
  • We budgeted $1,200 to spend and the Bingo team only spent $658. Plus they raised $1,024 from the event.
  • A lot of the things were already in the closet. So, next year we will need to purchase new daubers and books, etc. Also, we need to put paper down on the table so that students don’t draw on the tables with the daubers.
  • Next year we need to sell the pizza after we have handed out the free slice and we need to have more snacks and drinks next year.
  • Standardize: For next year, keep the concessions stand consistent with the same menu and the same prices so that there is no confusion and people do know what to expect.

Other topics:

  • For the next movie night, let's also sell some candy instead of just giving away the water and the popcorn, and see if we can make some money.
  • June Meeting: Hail and Farewell party. Meeting will be on June 5.
  • Meeting adjourned at 8:01pm.
