OBJECTIVES:

to improve intake interview skills as a mode of gathering diagnostic data

to utilize observational data to supplement test data

to consult successfully with teachers regarding the referred child

to improve the use of the hypothesis testing approach in the integration of data

to be able to successfully integrate data from a variety of sources and to communicate this information accurately and professionally in a written report

to become skilled and confident in communicating findings to parents

REQUIREMENTS:

1. The satisfactory completion (earning of A or B letter grade) of eight full battery assessments. Each full battery represents equal weight, thereby comprising 100 % of the final grade. Full battery work is graded in terms of administration and scoring accuracy and completeness, generation of accurate and complete hypotheses, quality of written report and quality of the parent/client conference. Supervisors contribute grade information directly to the professor, who makes the final decisions regarding the grade earned. (Satisfactory completion of five IQ assessments must have been competed as a prerequisite for this course. This is typically completed in the Spring semester of the previous year.)

2. The following components must be represented in at least two of the eight full batteries:

Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL/TRF) or BASC Rorschach

Classroom Observation Teacher Feedback Session

3.Classroom observations (two): Written parental permission must be secured in advance. Secure advance verbal permission from the school principal and teacher.

4. Teacher Feedback Session (2): Secure written permission from the parent.

5. Full battery assessments: intake interview, 3 or 4 two to two and a half hour test sessions, consultation with supervisor after second and final test session, written report, supervisor approval of report, interpretive conference with parents. Classroom observation and teacher conference as indicated above. Supervisor is in attendance at parent conference. NOTE: Face to face consultation/supervision is generally required unless extenuating circumstances exist.

6. Class participation in case supervision is required.

7. ALL CASEWORK TO BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN JUNE 1, 2003.
