Sublette County Prevention Coalition Meeting (Pinedale)

Notes from Sept 8th, 2016

1.  Introductions – Ranae

·  PMO for Sub County. Goal is slow and steady social change in reduction of alcohol abuse, tobacco use, suicide, and drug abuse.

2.  Guest speaker – Sheriff Lehr – Updates from SCSO

·  New Sheriff as of July. 15y in County, Open Door Policy

·  Started up Drug Task Force during 1st tour with SCSO in response to meth influx

·  This past year has seen a 150% increase in drug cases

·  Are seeing meth, mj, also scripts, pcp & heroin

·  School Resource Officers back in school. Ryan Day in Big Piney & Scott Weiner in Pinedale.

·  Dave Seifkas: scripts stolen from home, cough syrups, mj, heroin. Recipes on the internet to create intoxicants. Suicidal subjects and Title 25 process.

3.  Alcohol:

·  Working with Pinedale Town Council on points system

·  Breathalyzers to Law Enforcement (4 passed on to Game & Fish)

·  DUI reduction Campaign - new / one of a kind – humongous media campaign

·  Sending 2 community members to TIPS training October 15th (Stan Zurlin & Robyn Blackburn)

·  TIPS trainings to be scheduled every other month, maybe every quarter

·  Compliance Checks – Completed in August, results not published yet

·  6 ID Scanners: 2 for Pinedale , Jim Robinson will check to see if wanted/needed in Marbleton and may give other 2 to local businesses who failed compliance checks

·  Radio ads put on back burner

4.  Tobacco: (postponed)

·  Vape shop in Pinedale closed doors in August

·  Any news of any bars going smoke free???

·  Policies for agencies and tobacco - any agencies willing to provide policies for their staff or buildings to be smoke/tobacco free?

5.  Other Drugs:

·  Education Summit, November 2-3rd in Pinedale. Great speakers and support from the coalition!

·  Weighing Drop Boxes-Karson and Danielle

6.  Suicide Prevention:

·  Mountains of Hope Suicide awareness walks. Aaron reported: Pinedale had 94 participants with lots of youth. Big Piney had 18-20

·  CONNECT training – Nov 15th – Postvention Response Team. 6-8 hours of POST and CEU credits

·  CIT Training-potentially in 2017 for Sublette
