Community & Technical Colleges

Provide Option to 4-Year College

Not sure that a 4-year college is right for you? Then consider two community & technical colleges in our area.

The campuses of Gateway Community & Technical College offer a wide variety of programs and a great alternative to the traditional 4-year college, yet with the opportunity to earn an associates’ degree which would transfer to NKU or other Kentucky public universities.Visit

Cincinnati State also offers several certificate and associates degrees including a premier culinary arts program. Cinci State offers in-state tuition to Northern Kentucky residents who are enrolled in an eligible degree program there. Visit

UPS Delivers Education

In conjunction with UofL or Jefferson Community & Technical College, UPS offers its Metropolitan College Program. It’s not a college; it’s a partnership among UofL, JCTC, and UPS. Students must be employed by the UPS overnight air operation at the Louisville Airport while attending college classes in order to obtain 100% of tuition payment. UK Seeks Student Athletic Trainers

Planning to attend UK and interested in a career in the medical field (athletic training, physical therapy, nursing, pre-med, etc.)? You might consider applying to be a student athletic trainer and receive exposure to the profession of athletic training and sports medicine. Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and interest in the program. AMDA College & Conservatory of the Performing Arts

With campuses in New York and Los Angeles, AMDA offers bachelor’s degrees in acting, music theatre, dance theatre, and performing arts, as well as 2-year professional programs in dance theatre, studio acting; it also offers an integrated program of acting, music theatre and dance theatre. The Park Hills FD is a mostly-volunteer fire department that has provided fire protection and EMS services to Park Hills and its surrounding communities since 1942. Berea College (KY) Scholarship

Tuition paid to students who clearly need financial help to attend college. The majority of students receiving these awards rank in the top 20% of their class have an ACT Composite score between 20-30, have a GPA of 3.0+, and come from families with annual incomes between $12,000 and $50,000. UC’s Lindner College of Business/Honors-PLUS Program (Repeat)

25 students are selected to participate in this unique 5-year program that includes a demanding business honors curriculum, real work experiences through 5-6 paid coops, a study-abroad program, and extensive leadership training and development. Applicants are screened on academics and selected based on leadership potential including character, extra-curricular activities,work ethic and communication skills. Program includes full in-state tuition.

Centre College Merit Scholarships

Alongside a generous need-based financial aid program, Centre offers merit-based scholarships to over 60 percent of each freshman class, based on academic achievement, extracurricular accomplishment, and personal character.All students who apply for admission by January 15 are automatically considered for all merit scholarships. These renewable four-year merit scholarships range from $5,000 to $21,500 each year.

KY Transportation Cabinet-Civil Engineering (Repeat)

UC’s Cincinnatus Scholarship Program

Two Thomas More College Scholarships

1)Amber Johnson

This award is available to a Dixie Heights student in an amount up to $2,000 to be applied to tuition, books or direct educational expenses. Recipient must embody fortitude and perseverance, as did Amber. Minimum 2.0 GPA required.

2)Leadership Award

For students with proven service record and leadership in school activities. Must also have minimum 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT. Award is $2,000 for four years. Applications for these and other scholarships are available at

American Legion Oratorical Contest & Other Scholarships

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Designed to assist high school students of Hispanic heritage. Available to graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time at a community college or institution during the upcoming academic year.

Robert A. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship

Greater Cincinnati Women’s Golf Association Scholarship Foundation

GCWGA grants a one-time scholarship to high school senior girls. Amount varies from year to year but ranges from $1,000 to $1,500. Candidates will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, excellence of character, and involvement in the sport of golf. Go to instructions and application.

EKU offers a PGA Golf Management Program in the College of Business and Technology. EKU owns its own golf course, the Arlington Golf Course. So if golf is your passion, make it your major. Application and information is available in Mrs. Wuellner’s office.

Important Financial Aid Information

  • Remember that the FAFSA for current high school seniors and their parents will not be available until Jan. 1 at
  • Be sure to file the 2015-16 FAFSA. Also, remember that it is okay to use estimated financial information to file the FAFSA (e.g., 2013 filed taxes, W-2 forms, or even last paystub from Dec. 2014).
  • We strongly encourage filing the FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1.
  • You must file the FAFSA to be eligible for grants or other forms of financial aid.
