Job Title / Clerk to the Trustees / Reporting to / Academy Chair of the Trustees
Job Purpose / To provide advice to the Board of Trustees on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.
  1. Provide effective administrative support to the Board of Trustees and any committees
  2. Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements
  3. Ensure the Trustees Board is properly constituted

Key Responsibilities /
  1. To provide advice to the Board of Trustees on matters of governance legislation and procedural matters
  1. Provide effective administration of meetings, preparing a focused agenda and ensuring papers and documentation for the meetings are prepared and distributed in a timely fashion.
  1. Record the attendance of Trustees at the meetings and draft minutes of the Trustee meetings, indicating who is responsible for agreed actions with timescales
  1. Circulate the minutes to all trustees and follow up on agreed actions.
  1. Maintain a register of Trustee pecuniary interest and ensure the Trustees business interests is reviewed regularly
  1. Maintain a record of any training undertaken by the Trustees
  1. Manage information including up to date records of names, addresses and category of Trustees, maintaining copies of signed minutes of meetings, records od trustee correspondence
  1. Undertake appropriate and regular training and development to maintain knowledge and improve practice
  1. To work in a way that protects and respects confidentiality of pupils and Academy business.

  • Experience of working in an administration role, ideally in education or service industry.
  • ICT skills at a good level
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, face-to-face, telephone)
  • Highly literate and numerate with excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience of dealing with confidential work.
