Prospective Residency Applicant:

Prospective Residency Applicant

We are excited about sharing our Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program information with you because we are committed to developing specialty clinicians and leaders for the future. Cone Health’s Cardiology Program is diverse, challenging and flexible and requires the resident to have a great deal of personal commitment and self-motivation in order to gain full benefit from the experience.

The residency program begins by July 1 each year. We are currently applications for the 2016-2017 training year. You are encouraged to submit your materials as early as possible. The deadline for completed applications is December 30, 2015.

Through the PhORCAS portal you should submit/upload to our program:

·  A current curriculum vitae.

·  Request an official transcript of your grades to be forwarded directly to PhORCAS Transcripts Department.

·  Provide a cover letter stating your intent to pursue specialty training in cardiology

·  Ask three preferably clinical faculty and/or an employer who is familiar with your professional and academic background to complete reference documents in PhORCAS.

o  We request that your references include comments in at least 10 of the 13 comment boxes on the form in place of writing a traditional letter of recommendation.

o  The program specific comment box is optional

·  Lastly, as a resident applicant you are also applying to become a full time employee of Cone Health, so you will need to complete an employee application on the Cone Health website. To be considered for employment, you must presently have an employment authorization that is valid throughout the residency period (July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017).

The interview coordinator will contact you to schedule an on-site interview with the key members of our Health System. We do require that your application materials be completed and returned to us before the interview date can be confirmed. We will begin interviewing PGY2 Cardiology applicants in early January 2016. All onsite interviews must be completed by January 31, 2017. The interview schedule generally begins at 9:30 a.m. and is usually completed by 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the application materials, information on the Cancer Center and Departments of Pharmacy as well as information about the city of Greensboro is included.

If you have any further questions concerning the program or application requirements, please contact Maria Zobro, Residency Program Interview Coordinator via email or call collect (336.832.8124).
