Welcome: Happy New Year
Matters from last meeting:Chris briefly went through the minutes of the last meeting and also the Action Plan from the Survey – the purchase of high backed chairs (with arms) and also the children’s play table.
Terms of Reference Review:Chris informed the meeting that the updated terms of reference for the group were available on the Patient Group Page of the practice website and on the group’s notice board.
Practice Update:
End of December 2013 there were 7859 (a new all time high) patients registered at the practice,
2366 (30%) patients had registered online,
150 online prescription requests were received inDecember,
3360 (42.7%) signed up for SMS text reminders of appointments
However in December96 appointments were lost due to patients not attending, 39 for GPs and 57 for nurses.
Chris informed the meeting that in early February the current GP Trainer would leave the practice and we would be joined by a new one. Chris & Dr Wragg then went on to explain the practice’s role in relation to GP Trainers.
Suggestion Box:There have been no suggestions or comments since the group’slast meeting.
Lisa is to publish the “you said we did” comments from the group’s survey and display them on the group’s notice board.
CQC Visit: Chris presented the results of the CQC inspection report to the group and explained their findings. In the main the inspection went well the only area where there was some concern was relating to Safeguarding Vulnerable adults. In particular the knowledge and confidence staff would in report in such individuals. The practice has put in place additional training and support to staff in order to rectify these concerns. David Mitchell wanted to place in record congratulations and thanks to the practice on behalf of patients.
AOB:Pat and Chris discussed getting out the next Newsletter – Pat thought that this was going to be a quarterly issue and stated that she is still happy to continue to take this project on but would like a little input from the surgery on information that would be pertinent and of interest to our patients to put in the Newsletter. Lisa stated that she would be happy to be the surgery’s point of contact for this. Lisa asked if it would be possible for us to distribute this to a % of our patients via a leaflet drop, several people would be happy to take part. David brought up the legality of this (? Poaching patients), Chris advised that all I’s are dotted and T’s crossed before the surgery embarks upon anything.
Elaine asked Chris about the latest government suggestion that GP’s surgery will open on Saturdays and Sundays; Chris explained that there is work going on in the background in relation to this but there is not much detail available currently other than the headlines in the media and as further information becomes available it will be shared with the group and patients more widely.
Pauline asked Chris is there were any consequences to patients if they missed an appointment; Chris explained the procedure that the practice has in place to monitor and respond to patients that do not attend appointments including letters, warnings and ultimately and regrettably removing patients from the practice list.
Gail commented on her positive experience of the surgery’s sit and wait system, she was unaware that it had been available for so long – Chris explained the process to the whole group.
Elaine asked if it made things easier for the surgery if she was to use Medix as her named Pharmacy, Chris and Zoe explained that we (Prospect Surgery) cannot promote ANY pharmacy but that ordering medication using any pharmacy or ordering it online via our website is beneficial for both the patient and the surgery but reiterated that a patient will always still be able to order in person.
There being no other issues the meeting was closed.
