No plan changes are necessary because FOR 504 is the replacement for this course, and is already an elective course named in the affected plans.

11. Justification for course deletion.
I have been teaching this course in alternate years, alternating with FOR504 (Current topics in wildlife ecology and conservation biology). In recent years, faculty lines and funding have declined, leading to decreased numbers of graduate students. As a result, it is sometimes hard to meet minimum enrollment, especially in a 600-level class. Once FOR625 is deleted, I will offer FOR504 yearly. Although FOR504 is more narrowly focused than FOR625 (504 is a Special Topics and 625 is a survey course), there was considerable overlap between the two courses. Thus this deletion will reduce redundancy in NAU offerings. Because FOR504 can be repeated for credit and is available to qualified upper-division undergrads, it will be easier to meet enrollment thresholds. I also find it more stimulating to teach a current topics seminar than a survey course.
