Projet de révision: Journal de Moi!

As a culminating project for our first unit of the year, you will be writing an autobiography using the vocabulary and structures we’ve been reviewing, and you will be making a collage to represent some of your interests, characteristics and other elements of your life.

Project Requirements and Due Dates

1. Your written autobiography is called your «journal demoi». For this writing part of the project, you must write at least one page (single spaced, handwritten in your neatest handwriting) in which you talk about each of the themes in the bubbles of the Moi diagram. It would be a good idea to use the guiding questions of activities D and I of the two review packets to help you write your autobiography. You may also want to use the “portraits” readings from this unit to help inspire you.

Be sure to organize your writing in paragraphs, with a brief introduction and conclusion. Sentences should flow clearly from one to the next and should not just be answers to the guiding questions written one after the other. Your writing should be using French that you know: present tense, with vocabulary and structures we have reviewed. You may use other structures and vocabulary as well, but it is very important that your writing be in your own words.

Finally, please think about the presentation of your work: include a clear title and your name on top of each page. Staple your written product together before you arrive in class if it is more than one page.

Handwritten copy of your final draft is due. This grade will count as a test grade.

2. Collage. You must illustrate the information you share in your written «journal demoi» in the form of a collage as well. You may use images from the internet, cut out magazine pictures or real pictures – anything that is appropriate to be shared in school. The collage must be on an 8 ½ X 11 in. piece of white paper. Your name should be somewhere on the collage.

Collage is due the same day as your final draft.

3. Presentation. You will be presenting your collage to the class during the week of its due date. Prepare to talk about the images you chose to put on your collage (what they are, why they are important, what they say about you or your life). Your presentation should be entirely in French, about 1-2 minutes long, and it CANNOT be read. It should also not be a memorized version of your «journal demoi». Your presentation should talk about your collage, and in doing so, allow you to introduce yourself to the class.

The “hat” will pick in what order the presentations will be.

Need inspiration? I have uploaded a sample «journal demoi» that I wrote about myself on our wiki. Feel free to read it if you need some ideas about what to write. However, please remember to write your own «journal demoi» in your own words. Also think about what we learned in class about translators and how to use a dictionary!
