8th GRADE PROJECT SELECTION SHEET
Christian Life Project
You must do one of the following this fall. This will be due by DECEMBER 5, 2018
- Keep a television log for a week. List programs and commercials that agree or disagree with the teachings of the Bible and how they do so.
- Write a family devotion with a Scripture verse (written out), devotion, and a closing prayer.
- Make a time line of Christ Lutheran's history.
- Analyze one of the liturgies, listing parts that relate to each person of the Trinity.
- Design a Christian Sympathy Card, using symbols, colors, and words of Scripture.
- Choose 6 hymns: One for each type of prayer (Praise, Petition, Thanks, Confession, Intercession, and Guidance.) Write out the phrases which show each part and how they show it.
- Write a 200 word (1 page double spaced) essay on your baptismal sponsors. Make sure you answer the following in your report:
- Date and place of your baptism.
- Names of your sponsors and their relationship to you.
- What is the responsibility of your sponsors toward you?
- What is your responsibility toward your sponsors?
- What responsibility do your sponsors have if something should happen to your parents?
- Write out each of the Christian Questions (pages 39-42 of the Catechism) and then explain each one in your own words.
Church Council/Voters Project
All 8th Grade Students are required to attend a Church Council or Voter’s Meeting. This will be due by March 20, 2019. (Plan Ahead Only 6 meeting between September and March.)
Attend a Voter's meeting or Church Council meeting and then write a two (2) page report.
- The Voter's Assembly will meet in January of 2019 – Check the bulletin for date and time.
- The Church Council meets once a month (Call Church Office for next meeting) Please speak with the Pastors if you plan to attend a Church Council meeting.
What to include in your report:
- When did you attend the meeting -- date and time?
- Give a summary of each report that is given and by whom.
- Give a summary of any old and new business.
- What impressed you about the meeting?
- What bored you about the meeting?
- What was one thing you learned about how your church works?
Confirmation Verse Project-
You must do 1 of the following during the year. Each option includes a 1 page paper describing your confirmation verse, your project, and what it means to you. This will be due by April 24, 2019 and on Display on Confirmation Sunday May 5th, 2019.
- Artwork -- poster, drawing, painting
- Writing -- brief essay explaining what it means in your life
- Write a story or parable based on it
- Write a skit that illustrates it.
- Write a poem
- Write a song.
- Make a PowerPoint presentation or a web site.
- Write a sermon or a devotion
- Make up a lesson plan to teach it
- Make up a discussion guide to lead a discussion of it.
- Write an opera.
- Make up a game based on it.
- Anything with Pastor approval.
