Kairos Women Working Together (WWT) believes in the value and dignity of all women. We aim to support, empower, and give a voice to women at risk of or subject to sexual exploitation, including those caught up in sex work and those aspiring to leave it. We work in Coventry by providing safe spaces, a listening ear and opportunities for change & growth.

As outlined in the job advertisement, we are seeking a female Project Worker. She will have experience in providing support and advocacy to vulnerable people and experience of leading sessions with a commitment to social justice. This role requires close liaison with the Support Worker.

This role requires regular evening and occasional weekend work. Applicants are required to have a full driving licence, use of a car and an unrestricted right to work in the UK. The role is subject to a DBS check.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: / Project Worker (Drop In and Outreach, Wings, Floating Support and Volunteer Co-ordinator)
Contract Length: / One year (with possibility of extension dependent on funding)
Post Salary: / NJC SO1, Point 30, £26,236
Working Hours: / 37 (including regular evenings and occasional weekends)
Responsible to: / Project Manager
Role: / To promote the ethos of the project in line with the mission statement

Main Responsibilities

General Support

  1. To attend the Day Sessions, Evening Drop Ins and Outreach as required by arrangement.
  2. To network with key partner organisations such as the Police, CDT, SWISH, DSS, Probation Services, local and national sex worker organisations
  3. To make contact with other external organisations, enquirers, and members of the community as required
  4. To help organise activities and outings with staff and service users, and take an active part in training programmes. Including a willingness and ability to work with children of all ages and a wider family network
  5. To work as directed to promote Kairos WWT including the newsletter, website and other social media.
  6. A willingness to become involved in fundraising to ensure the long term sustainability of the project
  7. To undertake relevant research/development projects from time to time
  8. To attend meetings, conferences and training events as required
  9. To work flexibly including regular evenings and occasional weekends
  10. To provide information and produce detailed reports to the Project Manager and Board of Trustees as required
  11. To record all contact with service users appropriately and update records
  12. To ensure adherence to all policies including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety. To assist in Risk Management assessments and policy development.
  13. To engage in regular supervision and undertake relevant training.

Floating Support

  1. To be responsible for identifying service-user needs appropriate for the Floating Support Service and co-ordinating the response to those needs.
  2. To allocate casework as appropriate to the Support Worker.
  3. To be responsible for inputting the Floating Support Database and other maintenance of that database.
  4. To offer a service underpinned by a very high threshold of confidentiality.
  5. To advocate and support by assisting service users to address a range of social, legal and economic issues which may affect their lives.
  6. To engage women into other services as and when necessary, in particular, into local drug and health services
  7. To maintain a high standard of case notes and records.
  8. To attend MARAC meetings when required.
  9. To perform any other duties reasonably required by the Project Manager within the scope of the job and its grading.

Drop In and Street Outreach

  1. To Co-ordinate Drop In and Street Outreach
  2. To attend Drop Ins and Street Outreach weekly.
  3. To ensure proper record keeping and information is uploaded to the database
  4. Ensure that there is sufficient stock, including donations, harm reduction equipment and refreshments.
  5. Oversee Ugly Mugs updates and ensure that relevant information about other agencies are maintained.
  6. Liaise with partner agencies, including the police to obtain information relevant to the safety of staff, volunteers or service users.

Wings

  1. To facilitate weekly group sessions.
  2. Be willing to lead an activity if required.
  3. Collate and monitor feedback from the group.
  4. To be responsible for identifying service-user needs appropriate for the Floating Support /Befriending Service or appropriate signposting to other support agencies and to co-ordinating the response to those needs.
  5. Maintain entries on the database, ensuring that service user records are kept up to date.

Volunteer Coordination

  1. Recruit and train volunteers to support Wings, Drop In and Street outreach, befriending and any other service, as required and in line with current legislation.
  2. Produce rotas for volunteers supporting Drop In and Wings to ensure an adequate number of volunteers are available to support the sessions.
  3. Provide supervision for all volunteers.
  4. Communicate with volunteers about changes in the organisation.
  5. Appoint and support a Volunteer Coordinator, who will report directly to the Board of Trustees.
  6. Make use of social media and the Kairos website to communicate relevant information to volunteers.
  7. Signpost relevant training opportunities to volunteers.
  8. Organise volunteer social events, as required
