Salary:circa 30k plus benefits

Pension:On completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period the post will become pensionable. Project Trust will pay 6% of salary into a Stakeholder Pension Scheme.

Purpose of job

To provide leadership and direction to the Volunteer Recruitment Department to raise Project Trust’s profile, deliver the Education Programme and recruit a target of 300 volunteers each year.

SUMMARY OF MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tofurther develop and enhance a comprehensive Recruitment Strategy for Project Trust.
  • To oversee the work of the Recruitment Officers and to allocate individual responsibility for specific regions of the UK: England; Scotland; Wales/Northern Ireland & Europe.
  • To develop strategic partnerships with the relevant education and youth sectors.
  • To act as an ambassador for Project Trust and to foster strong relationships with school and youth organisations.
  • To manage an annual programme of school and youth organisation presentations and allocate responsibility accordingly.
  • To assume responsibility for identifying suitable and competent Returned Volunteers in order to create a database of potential individuals for school presentations.
  • To represent Project Trust at senior level as appropriate.
  • Responsible for updating the Senior Management Team on relevant departmental issues.
  • To provide support and guidance to the Education Development Officer to implement the Education Strategy
  • In partnership with the Design and Marketing Officer and the Communications Officer to coordinate and implement a sustained Media Strategy that underpins the Recruitment and Departmental Strategy.
  • To work alongside the Head of Alumni to develop and implement the Alumni Strategy
  • To manage the Departmental Team effectively and to ensure that regular Support & Supervision sessions and Annual Appraisals are carried out.
  • To handle and retain confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • To coordinate the Department’s involvement in all aspects of the Project Trust calendar: Selection, Training, Debriefing and Overseas.
  • To continually review Project Trust’s strategic direction and to recommend adjustments and new directions to reflect current trends as and when appropriate.
  • To attend Board, Senior Manager and Team meetings as and when required.

Administration

  • To ensure that all communications (e.g. written, telephone or e-mail) are processed efficiently and according to required procedures.
  • To ensure that all administration tasks associated with the above are carried out to high standards.

Other responsibilities

  • Other reasonable duties as may be requested by the CEO.
Conditions of Service

The appointment will be made subject to Project Trust’s detailed terms and conditions of employment. Candidates should be aware that:

a)The offer of appointment will be made subject to the receipt of satisfactory references.

b)This position is subject to the Disclosure Scotland check and completion of a Medical Questionnaire.

c)This post is permanent subject to continued funding of the Trust.

d)The person appointed will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an interim review at 3 months and a final review at 6 months.

e)The post holder will be required to give 3 months notice to terminate the appointment.

f)The working week is 35 hours and flexibility is required where some of these may be outside the normal working day i.e.: at evenings or weekends.

g)The holiday entitlement will be 30 days per calendar year, excluding some Bank Holidays, plus 3 days between Christmas and the New Year.

h)Project Trust operates a no smoking policy within its premises.
