Seeking– Special Needs Coordinator for a VolunteerCenter in Ethiopia
Please note: This is a voluntary position, covering living expenses and pocket money
Project TEN of the Jewish Agency,is an International Development program operating volunteer centers in developing countries and Israel.
Young Jews from all over the world arrive at volunteer centers for a period of 3 months, for a program that combines volunteering with the local population and a study process in areas of international development, social involvement, identity and Jewish activism.
Role description:
Support and training of groups of volunteers working with people with special needs (particularly the visually impaired) in Gondar, Ethiopia. Establishing and managing ties with development professionals in the field. Establishing relations and partnerships with NPOs and organizations active in the field (knowhow sharing), devising enrichment content in the field for the volunteer team and local teachers working in the field with the target population. Raising the level of professionalism of the current project and developing the project to accommodate other volunteering possibilities.
Requirements:
Academic degree (preference for graduates in a relevant field)
Knowhow and experience in areas of work relating to special needs people (preference for experience with working with the visually impaired)
Background in instruction, support and training.
Communication, human relations and teamwork skills.
Excellent command of English (most of the oral and written work will be in English)
Ability to undertake hard work in a changing intercultural environment
Ability to work independently, and to develop and implement programs
Advantage: background in international development, or knowhow in the field
Ability to commit to a period of at least one year
Able to leave for the destination country (Ethiopia) before the summer

Young Jews from all over the world arrive at volunteer centers for a period of 3 months, for a program that combines volunteering with the local population and a study process in areas of international development, social involvement, identity and Jewish activism.
Requirements:
Professional background and proven success in managing a large and multidimensional educational/social project/institution/organization.
Education professional committed to social involvement, Jewish life and Israel
Rich and varied experience in social activism
Experience in managing volunteers and/or volunteer projects
The ability to build and lead a team
Complex project implementation and planning skills, including budget management and formative evaluation
Experience in managing a project of young people in boarding school/community/shared accommodation conditions
Excellent command of English (most of the oral and written work will be in English)
Speaks Spanish (advantage)
Ability to undertake hard work in a changing intercultural environment
The ability to undertake a long term commitment (2 years)
Advantage: a degree in a relevant field – education, community management, Jewish studies, social work, sustainable development etc.
The position is offered to both genders
Advantage: familiarity with, time spent or past residency in the destination country (Ghana)

Seeking – Educational Coordinator for a VolunteerCenter in Mexico and Ethiopia

The Ten program of the Jewish Agency is an International Development program operating volunteer centers in developing countries and Israel.
Young Jews from all over the world arrive at volunteer centers for a period of 3 months, for a program that combines volunteering with the local population and a study process in areas of international development, social involvement, identity and Jewish activism.
Role description:
Training of groups of volunteers aged 20-30 who come for a period of 3 months. Full responsibility for implementing the educational program and presenting it to the program participants. Devising and processing the existing study program. Teamwork with project coordinators and tailoring the educational content of the program to voluntary activities in the field. Involvement in the center’s volunteering program.
Requirements:
Spanish speaker
Professional background in informal Jewish education, including instruction and moderation of different types of groups
Experience in devising study material and educational programs for the 20+ age group.
Familiarity with Jewish literature (classical and modern), Zionist literature and contemporary Israeli culture.
Experience in social activism
Experience in coordinating volunteers
The ability to create cooperative processes with young groups
Excellent communication, human relations, teamwork and management skills.
Excellent command of English (most of the oral and written work will be in English)
Ability to undertake hard work in a changing intercultural environment
Ability to work independently, and to develop and implement programs
Can commit to a year
Can leave for the destination country in the coming months
Advantage: master’s degree in a relevant field (education, Jewish studies, community management etc.)
Advantage: experience in moderating different kinds of groups (religious and secular, Israelis and non-Israelis)
